I think Maren getting cursed as a Black Cat Keidran serves as the best possible karma for how she initially treated Raine in her true form. Plus, she's now the polar opposite to Raine. Like I said in the stream, I can almost see Maren getting chased by Raine (like how cats get chased by dogs), just to make things even.
