It only matters when you're using more mundane methods of flight or your magical flight is influenced by the user's positioning. The magic flight in this case is more just an omnidirectional lever and intent to change or dictate specific direction. Air resistance doesn't do anything to affect it, only physical obstacles or magical obstacles.
