Emory Ahlberg

I so so need Taylor and Max this week. ♥️

Veryy

Why do I get butterflies whenever a chapter of this drops?

Roz

surely no-one will ever suspect that taylor "visibly disgusted by every man she's ever met" scott is a lesbian. surely. fantastic as always <3

Jade Diaz

Watching all of our disaster lesbiabs be disasters is really giving me life today. Feels like the best start to a weekend!

Briar Rae

Omg I hope these girls go to a blockbuster and discover a copy of Angelina Jolie’s Foxfire

Samantha Louise

So many great moments in this chapter but the one that made me smile most was Maxine thinking, “She was the missing piece in her life.”

Ellen Mellor

After Max's outfit for her first day at school (I've only just got to Clay picking her up), I've decided that 'VPH' stands for Visible Panties High.

SingularCurve

One Neat Trick, Biblical plagues of People from NJ, Palm Trees. Im up three already on my Bingo Card for this chapter/novella!! "...wont make it as far as Homecoming..." Right there is my bet. Maxine feels so right about herself. Its over except the fall out and living the dream imo and that is a very good thing for her! Im cheering for you Maxine and Taylor! Those troubled Sapphic teens in NY and CA! My heart aches for them. They all deserve the best they can get with the girls they want but will anyone give them a break? No. This story makes me wish this kind of thing was acceptable when I was a Teen in Highschool in the late 1980s, even just to read a fantasy story about it. Thank you for another amazing chapter in this story.

Marmite and bourbon creams!

Zenmadster

Since I haaaave to start with a zap, there's a brand called Duck tape, but the generic is *duct* tape. That out of the way, multiple squee points in this chapter, and I'm ready to see how you drag us off that cliff at the end.

Zenmadster

I'd heard nightmares about Marmite, but had to look up bourbon creams. Are they worth hunting down?

Zenmadster

Specifically been waiting for Banger (help me, I like the nickname better) to show up again. And I actually like Garrett, right until he says something that makes me want to smack him in the face.

Lucy Severine

Eh! They're, pretty similar to Oreos overall, except the 'bar' part is harder and less flavourful. They're the off-brand for a reason, but I liked them well enough as a kid.

Lucy Severine

Aw, Willa, I totally get why you did that but we don't do that to our friends 💜

Anamorphose

They're pretty good, but not amazing. They aren't anywhere as near as good as Hob-Nobs or Chocolate Digestives IMHO, but they have a certain nostalgic charm. Marmite is the ultimate love-or-hate British food, so much so it's become a synonym for something that provokes extreme reactions. Personally I can't stand it, but I know plenty who are completely besotted with it.

Steven Patt

Pet peeve tbh. But since there is that specific brand, tolerance is called for. 🤷‍♂️

alysongreaves

It's actually switched out in the current version, mostly because I decided Taylor is a stickler :p

Ellen Mellor

Not about this chapter at all (which I loved all the way to the end) but about (kimmy). I've just finished reading it and, as with everything else you've written, I absolutely loved it. I have no idea how you can write so much and maintain such a high standard of quality (maybe because you write so much? I've never been able to sustain it for more than a week or so without lapsing. I have terrible writing discipline). The concept and execution of the book were both brilliant and fascinating and terrifying. The analogies with being trans were cleverly entwined, alongside the analogies with race. I found parts of it deeply disturbing. When Kay was losing herself were deeply upsetting. So, yeah, another absolute masterpiece showing your skills as a writer and your mastery of horror and science fiction. Thank you.

alysongreaves

Thank you so much! And I think my secret to writing a lot is having very few other hobbies. I'm basically always thinking about writing; it might not be healthy :3

Ellen Mellor

Well, it keeps you off the streets! I've nearly finished my next book - my second children's story and I'm going to try to get some inspiration from you and go straight back into the novel that I've neglected for about six months. Wish me luck!

Ellen Mellor

Do I need to go to the modern equivalent of a Blockbuster and discover a copy of Angelina Jolie's Foxfire? I've never heard of it. Am I missing a queer classic?

Briar Rae

It’s one of the all time greats! It’s the movie that literally turned Jolie into a bisexual, and she started dating her costar the great Jenny Shimizu after filming wrapped! It also shares the honor with The Watermelon Woman, But I’m a Cheerleader, and To Wong Foo of being among the few, the proud, the 90s queer films with no queer death! There are few queer films I rank above Foxfire, and none of them are riotously fem as this movie. It’s exquisite, I can’t recommend it enough.

Katieclysm

Ohhhh, this is gonna be rough, girls.

Katieclysm

... Nevermind that I've been polyshipping those three for a while now... <.<

CoyoteGospel

So much to love, as always, and wow did I need this after the week it’s been, but especially loved the ending. There are so many ways for that situation to go, and having Maxine show up when she does (instead of, say, just a couple minutes earlier or not at all) feels so much more fresh and interesting than any of the stock options. Cannot wait to see where it goes!
