Such a sweet pleasant chapter until the cliffhanger! Late catch of another Britishism (but not in dialogue so not a big deal): “The band go straight into” would be “goes” in American English.

This was wonderful and sweet until that masterful cliffhanger. I suspect Kennedy has a thing for Dominique. I wonder how Dominique’s mom knew Clay was her brother and if she connected the person who ran out after him at church with Maxine. Avery and Willa bonding over unrequited crushes (on Maxine) that they won’t acknowledge to anyone else, then having consolation sex. Willa’s got some music to face with Natalie, who hopefully is understanding about her grabbing a chance to soothe her touch starvation. I was feeling a vicarious rush at how Maxine was able to let herself feel pleasure and the joy she and Taylor experienced. And that was still lingering when the cliffhanger hit. Whump! I’m almost grateful I was late reading the chapter, since I have less time to wait before the next, but ooof.
