Of course Kennedy turns up. It wouldn't be her if she didn't. I can't imagine it going well. This was another excellent installment. You do such a good job of breathing life into the characters. I'd love to see Maxine and Taylor in 2026, aged 40 at some point, just to see what they're doing now. I could see either one getting into politics and being a West Coast version of AOC. (Actually, come to think of it, that would probably be more Kennedy's thing. But the three of them together would be unstoppable.)

from the moment kennedy was introduced i knew she was the best character and if she ends up reacting badly to learning maxine is trans (if that ends up happening which seems inevitable imo) then ill just think its weird that you suddenly started writing fanfiction for your own story taylor's mom is obviously the close second to best character

In my head, Maxine, Taylor and Garrett have moved to Orange County (much more affordable than San Diego nowadays), and they own and run a very successful dispensary.

I just finished a full story re-read culminating in a delayed gratification first read of chapters 28 and 29. I’m so impressed with the intertwining of real history into the story, and the attention to detail you are able to interweave. It seriously envelops you, and makes a re-read so enjoyable - picking up things you may had previously missed. As always, can’t wait for the next chapter. I’m seriously curious about what Mom Giodarno’s arc ends up looking like. It feels like Luca is trying but stumbling, but… sometimes that’s enough. The enabling of his wife however…makes it so understandable where Maxine is right now.
