Incredible that I originally planned for the content of 30 and 31 to be covered in a single chapter...

I got sick twice while writing this and had to replace my GPU and completely reinstall Windows, so honestly it’s a miracle I got it finished at all! I also lost all my templates, which apparently are not saved in the same place as my project files, so I had to recreate those, too.

With this chapter I’m increasing the period of Patreon exclusivity to two weeks, since the chapters are longer (and take longer to write) than they were when I started.

Edit: Fixed a handful of errors. Wow, I was sleep-deprived when I wrote this chapter.

OMG OMG OMFG [insert incoherent tear-choked noises] I love every single fucking thing about this. Beautifully, beautifully done, Alyson. And now I’m going to go lie down and cry some more. 🥹😭

This chapter was really wonderful in too many amazing ways. I've got to point out some of my favorite bits. I'm so happy that Lorna finally got her present! “I remember asking you, once,” she says, “if the intent of this place is to teach us to submit without complaint when we are touched without permission. You said that it is not. Did that change?” Let's go Steph! Tell that old meddler to keep her hands off your little butch girlfriend! 😤 “Jenna, you tart, are you leaving me for a jailbait first year?” “She’s not jailbait; says here she’s almost twenty-two!” Oh my god 🤣 It doesn't matter how old you are. When you get basmented, you lose your adulting privileges. “Tabby,” Shahida says, very seriously, “make your own girls.” She's good at that! Doesn't even need the basement. Though after hearing her gush about her nice new BF earlier, it sounds like her free-range girl making days may finally be at an end.

Absolutely wonderful chapter. God I love Steph and Aaron so much. That conversation they had near the end of the chapter hit a tad too close to home. And I’ve been doing this HRT thing for almost seven years! But that struggle with personality and identity was a helluva struggle for me little under a decade ago (though some days it is still a struggle, but so much less than in high school!). I know these two will make it through it. It’s not easy, Steph is getting there and Aaron…sweet little shit….Aaron will get there too.

YESSS! Add another chapter to the "incredible" pile for The Sisters of Dorley! Alyson, you've outdone yourself AGAIN. I so, so love the complexity and depth you've added to all the characters (and more of them keep popping up 😁), but especially Maria, who's become such a fascinating and powerful figure in the story. I also admire how you're still exploring the moral dilemmas and different perspectives. Teri's objections to the new direction of the program are (of course) spot on and adds an extra layer of tension. Although Elle "helped" Dorley find its way, her own ulterior motives are damn creepy. And it's so interesting to see the group trying to navigate this new path while still grappling with their own personal experiences of torture...which they'll now be inflicting on others for the good of society! Obviously, Aaron's character development is simply amazing! I'm always rooting for him, but he has already come so far since his kidnapping that it makes what he's about to go through seem like true torture. Would he really revert if he was let go? I don't think so. But, at this point, I also don't think he'd leave if he was given the chance. He has been "institutionalized" already. And WOW, that Christmas party scene was so touching! 🎄 And yet, I can't help but feel like Aaron is somehow repeating this mistake of his past. He was so desperate to fit in with the popular boys back then that he became an abusive price -- and now he's seeking acceptance from the graduates and Steph. But is this really who Aaron is? Or is he simply trading one form of conforming for another? You have such an incredible talent for weaving together compelling characters, emotional depth, and thought-provoking themes. I can't wait to see where you take this story next. 💖
