Also I’m kind of confused on two things 1) How does Henry just automatically know Gatebuilders use nanotech or whatever 2) The sequence of a drone finding a power unit, finding eggs and being destroyed happens twice?

Henry is a sci-fi nerd, demonstrated by his numerous references throughout the chapters to popular franchises like Stargate, Halo, and Star Trek. It's not that he knows, it's more like he's speculating. yes, the first time they deploy the drone is to scout the entire facility. the second time they deploy the drone is to scout the power room specifically. in the second run, they secure more information, such as the number of hostiles and confirm the presence of the spiranid queen.
