Those are awesome. Thanks very much! Wow, already done volumes 2 and 3 too? You're very quick. As for my favourite retro soundtracks, it's always Final Fantasy series (VI and VII especially), Castlevania series, Streets of Rage, and Sonic games.

Holy moly! I'm climbing this retro mountain of RPG content time and again. All plays well together and is quite a journey. Feels like you aimed at (and hit) an entire OST. Love the Jingles too - I needed those!

I've been listening to a lot of that stuff lately as I work on more retro music. I'll have a whole bunch of it coming out, in various permutations for various engines. FF VI is definitely a highlight of that era.

All three volumes (so far) of the Retro Fantasy music use common sounds... they're from a Korg M1 emulation, kind of a generically representative synth from the late 80s - early 90s. The SNES and later systems actually used samples instead of having a sound chip generate the tones, so the M1 has the sort of sounds that would fit in that SNES/PS1 bracket. Sega had a different approach, using the onboard sound chip in the Genesis to generate the sounds like a mini-FM-synth of its own. It has a very distinct character.
