You were correct that Chan nearly debuted with got7, but there were also other people Chan trained with that all ended up getting eliminated and didn’t get to debut at all that Chan had gotten close to too

I get what you’re trying to say Ben. My thoughts on the matter a bit are that it was pretty clear Chan was hard on some of the members early on—like Felix and Jeongin—because he wanted to help them succeed and they needed some help. Chan thought of Seungmin as competent and independent, so he didn’t spend as much time giving him attention because he thought Seungmin was doing good on his own. Whereas younger Seungmin thought that the lack of attention meant that Chan didn’t think Seungmin was going to stick around and wouldn’t be able to make it far. When that’s like the opposite of what Chan thought. Neither of them are at fault at all there. It was a miscommunication or lack of communication/understanding from a time long ago that was riddled with uncertainties. I’m not saying at all that my thoughts here are correct and I don’t want to really assume to know what they were thinking (because idk them personally), but that’s my take on the matter.

I think Seungmin was still holding back a lot and I don’t know how much was edited out. My impression of part of what he was saying was that if Bang Chan didn’t pay that much attention to him, it was because he didn’t expect him to make it in the band (especially earlier on when there was Woojin). Maybe he’s been afraid - not of Bang Chan, but of Bang Chan not wanting him?

For me, i looked like chan was prepared to hear that he maybe wasn't there for seungmin but for seungmin it was emotional because he values the friendship with chan so much. But i might be interpreting it wrong.

SKZ's in-group dynamics in private are so so special and complex. It's easy to let go of someone and stop trying to be close to them but it takes so much work, emotions and energy into creating a relationship out of two people whose mindsets clearly don't align too much. They CHOSE to be close, and they keep choosing to do so everyday and I think that's so beautiful. Chan and Seungmin's situation, I think, is a classic example of one person having too much surety over the fact that the other will always get the job done - chan trusted seungmin enough to leave him alone, believing that he didn't need him. While seungmin clearly thought the world of chan and knew his struggles so he was desperate to not be an additional liability to chan. Cue him putting up a front of calm and collected when internally he craved chan's attention because as he said, he didn't know anything about the groundworks of music. Like Ben said, no one here is in the wrong and nothing about Seungmin's body language says that he blames chan at all, he of all people knew what chan was dealing with and wanted to care for him as much as he could. I hope to god no one twists these confessions into something negative or treat it as a means for blame. They were so honest about how they worked around building their relationship with each other despite the adversities and we should respect that. Like seungmin said, he likes chan despite it all and like chan said, he needed to hear what seungmin had to say to grow and do better. Sorry for all this I think this episode was just brilliant so I had a lot to say lol.

I think Seungmin's tears were from seeing the memories on the photos and he was just overwhelmed by the emotions of experiencing them again. I think that Seungmin recognizes that he values relationships over everything else. His ultimate passion isn't the music but the members. He seems to be expressing this a lot lately in different ways. Maybe it is growing up. Maybe it as he sees people around him going into the military and relationships often change after that. He is expressing that this right now, is his best version of his life. When I first was introduced to SKZ many years ago, I believed he had the most ability to have a solo career after SKZ. I am seeing that they all could do well as solo artists now but Seugmin's dream is to stay SKZ forever. These guys demonstrate what good male friendships should look like. Too bad they are not that common.

I think Seungmin has mixed feelings about how they used to bicker. I think he wishes he handled it differently but at the same time he acknowledges that it was necessary for their relationship to grow. I think Seungmin keeps a lot to himself and he feels deeply so his thoughts fester. So when those feelings decide to come out he has no choice but to release them. You're right in that there was no right or wrong side and it's hard to analyze because it just is what it is. It's how we live with other people, it's how we grow it others, it's how we become more ourselves. This episode simply showed us they are human.

I feel like, especially during the survival show, Seungmin was dependable, he asked for hellevators intro part, in a way he was someone chan didn't have to focus on, in that he'd get a part and they'd record, they didn't need the 1:1 time that seungmin saw other members get (I.N needed a lot of support early on, felix needed to learn a new language, etc). Hence the you didn't scold me but didn't pay attention either, there is a lot of emotions in this from both sides but i'm glad they can have these convos now and really truly understand each other

This episode had me thinking that it's showing how these two have reflected on moments in their lives and can articulate better the outcomes of that when it's brought up. We dunnae know, what we dunnae know. Without thae certainty of words spoken...we'll fill in blanks based on what we intuit and observe. As you said, there's no 'fault' here. Each person was working with perspectives that had missing pieces of information. And now, some of them aren't missing anymore because it was brought forth in the conversations happening in this ep. Early on, Seungmin prolly wasnae privy to Chan going numb because he'd gotten close to so many folks that either debuted or were dismissed from being a trainee. And if Seungmin internalized things so as to no be a burden, Chan doesnae know he's subsuming needs to do that. That's my takeaway. And oooof, Seungmin suddenly seized wi feelings and not sure what gives? Solidarity. Never a fan of when my emotional disconnects fail me like that.

I watched it just now when it first came out, and I was literally watching this again a few minutes ago and I saw you posted, and I'm watching it again for the third time 😂 Thanks for posting this because their conversation was really deep, and I want to know how you feel towards their dynamics ~ You are right that 2 kids room is a series where you get to know their dynamics behind the scenes. Anyways, I think what some people don't understand is that Seungmin is actually a sensitive person? Maybe he doesn't want to show it, and maybe that's why people think he's strong, but behind that strong mask, I feel like he is someone who has many thoughts too, someone who can break down just like anyone else. Just like how Chan said he didn't even know that Seungmin was thinking a certain way, I feel like Seungmin is someone who can hide his emotions very well. And I feel like Seungmin's EQ is very high, like VERY. But maybe sometimes he also doesn't know how to express it correctly. And as for Chan, he is also someone who is guarded with their feelings/ emotions. Not that he don't trust skz or anyt like that, but like he doesn't know how to handle those emotions either. So when 2 people who doesn't know how to communicate their feelings properly comes together, it creates misunderstandings, and it's actually very common, even within families. I also feel like both of them are still kinda dancing around their words(?), like being careful with what they say in order not to hurt the other or afraid that the other person will misunderstand what they say... But like Seungmin mentioned, it's not that he's uncomfortable around Chan, or vice versa, but because both of them doesn't know how to express how much they care for each other properly, which can create barriers and affect how they express themselves and communicate with each other, ending up with arguments.. But I agree with what you say, it's not any of their fault, but a lot of people struggle with this like I've said, and difference in personalities, thoughts and views can make people clash like you said. And it's totally human. But the fact that they are still there for each other through tough times, and as Seungmin said, he still loves Chan after all those arguments, it's really something beautiful. It shows 2 people who truly love each other through thicks and thins. They aren’t emotionally distant, they’re just emotionally cautious. Seungmin hides his emotions because he respects Chan too much to burden him. Chan restrains his emotions because he wants to give Seungmin space and not overwhelm him. But both of them comes from the same place, wishing the other could just see how much they care. 2 kids room is my favourite series along with skz code and I hope to see more reactions of you to other dynamics!

I think you expressed yourself well Ben! I agree neither is at fault. We also only know a portion of the story, but I love these 2 kids rooms and 1 kids rooms because no matter the challenges they went through and every family has up's and downs and fights. You can tell how much they care about each other in these moments.

One, I finally subscribed to your patreon. Two, I’ve been waiting for 2kids in the room for so long and the first thing was emotions roller coaster. Seungmin is facing a phrase in his life of a teen to adulthood that we all been through before. I’m glad that Chan has been with him throughout his rough times even though there were misunderstandings happening while growing up. But that is how they bond to be stronger. Chan in return is growing strong as well, and I can feel that both will powers are strong to face whatever may come. This video and the song, Goodbye by Seungmin,(written by Chan) has given me the chance to think deep of how should I face my trauma of loving people who loved and cared for me and accept myself once again without having anxiety attacks I’m sorry if it’s too heavy and too much, but this is the only place I know that I can share my thoughts to. p.s I enjoy your contents and sincerely reacting to every skz video with your emotions, even way before your K-pop contents. Keep doing you ✌🏻☺️

Did I watch this and cry like a baby? Yes. Did I still click on the notification and watch you react? Yes, and still cried like a baby again. Lots to take in here, but you can definitely see the progression across all 2KRs in not only the members age, maturity, also the content of what they talk about with each other. But, also their relationships growing from teenager phase into adult phase with even deeper, more meaningful moments, and growth of understanding and loving each other. Their emotional intelligence has deepened. I'm just hoping that every episode will not end up an emotional rollercoaster of constant tears, but I'll still watch it regardless.

Yes I think you articulated yourself well and you understood the emotions in the 2 kid room video. It seems to me Seungmin got caught off guard feeling emotional remembering the old days, and wanted to be real with what was happening, so expressed how in the past he wanted to be noticed more, and got frustrated with clashing often with Channie. Just want to say it's possible for a group to work well together and hold affection for each other AND have fallouts aswell, this is normal. They have grown closer each year, too. They understand one another better now. And seungmin has immense respect for Chan, you can see it many times across his face or behaviour in various videos. It feels like Chan appreciated his honesty but perhaps was distracted (in this video) by his own need to always be perfect for everyone, so was apologetic and saying he will be better. Seungmin didn't seem to agree, saying he is good the way he is. Such interesting dynamics. Such a great first episode, super exited to see the rest. Wonder if Ben will be reacting to them all on Patreon if he has the time? It's so nice to see another Stay react and deconstruct their videos. Ty Ben and rocking that hair 👌🏼🔥😎

I really wonder what a day in Bangchan's life looks like. He said it before: "Don't live like me. Don't do that. Don't go there." He might be in control of Stray Kids' music but there are so many obstacles, so many unanticipated circumstances every day that I truly believe he has this "obsession with order" to feel in control of something. When you live a life that changes almost every day, with different cities, different hotel rooms etc. it's understandable that he wants to keep up some routines. Just like Lee Know said he isn't always in control of his own life but at least he can control his own diet. But it's good that they know themselves and are very aware of their habits.
