I loved the reaction and analysis! While experience is definitely the better teacher over words, if only Tooe's way of getting her message across to Kanbaru were more like Araragi's words at the end instead of giving a child a cryptic riddle about poison and water and a dangerous mummified paw with supernatural powers; Kanbaru probably could have learned the same lesson without suffering as much lmao. I liked the connection Anna made between Kanbaru grappling with her mother's words (who is often aluded to as the devil) to the one on one square off Kanbaru had with Numachi. The creative way Kanbaru beats Numachi ends up mirroring how she deals with her mom's words in her dream. She doesn't try to dismiss or invalidate her mom's philosophical premise, she faces and accepts it can have merit, but exposes it as being just one of many strategies to combat a life filled with doubt due to not knowing your values. Similarly, she faces Numachi and agrees on the premise of their match, but disproves the assumption that the only strategy that can be successful is to keep the ball out of the defender's hands at al costs. She navigates the conflict using her creative ingenuity and leverages the unexpected advantage of using that approach. I think it's so fitting for her character. While Tooe jokingly dismisses Kanbaru's analogy of Numachi being akin to swamp water (as opposed to plain water) as "awful," it goes to show how comically narrow minded Tooe's declaration of poison and water was. Also I laughed outloud at Ben's, "It's just like that unsettling FUCK Ougi to not show back up in Hanamonogatari." (and also to Araragi and Karen still being full siblings as a 'sad note' hahaha)
