YESSS LETS GOO

Doctor Hoovy

I’ve been waiting for this

StrangeBrian

I love the energy at the start of the video and I cannot wait to see the contrast between that and the end of the saga >:’D

justsayinghi

About the “whatcha gonna do about it, champ” line. Jorge made a Tik Tok about it before the release of the wisdom saga saying how he was excited about the pronunciation of it. We didn’t get to hear it, but he told us what line to look out for.

Broody Gaming

Love the parallels of Tel and Ody singing the tune of full speed ahead while separated. Like they’re both pulling towards one another, unaware that the other one is missing them just as hard.

Broody Gaming

And I love the “wolf” usage cuz it reminds me the line from Ruthlessness about the pack of wolves swimming with the sharks now. Tel is a little wolf, he’s his dads kiddo 😭😭😭

MJ

i am so happuy and shaking like crazy

Kenzie Wing

Love these two songs. Awesome reaction!

draeonic 🪼

If you recall the first verse of Just a Man, Telemachus is actually 20 + age(infant) at this point :) This reaction has been a delight as usual

Basilily

Ah yes, shenanigans galore. Also Telemachus is a sunshine boy and we must protect him

ѕℓєєρу

Jorge made a bunch of shorts leading up to the release of the wisdom saga! One of them was him saying the "Whatcha gonna do about it, champ?" was one of his favorite lines Antinous' VA says

SK Elkins

Is it weird that I felt a little disappointed to have such a, well, canon-compliant treatment of Telemachus and the suitors? I don't know what I was expecting, but I think I was hoping for something a little more subversive of the original source material. Then, I suppose going too subversive with these characters could make things far too dark.

lilghost

He is talking about me!( I Just joined because I could Not Wait for the wisdom Saga Reactions! I did the Same for the thunder Saga)

Odysseus fought in the Trojan War for 10 years, then was lost at sea for three (Jorge has confirmed that it was always going to be 12 years in Different Beast, and just made a mistake in There Are Other Ways, which would have taken place at the 10 year mark). He spent seven years on Calypso’s island (so seven year time difference between Thunder and Wisdom saga). So it’s been 20 years in total since Odysseus has been in Ithaca. This also aligns perfectly with The Odyssey. Telemachus is now 20-21 years old.

Dorothy Rosenberg

Since this saga opens “7 years later,” we know that 12+ years at conclusion of previous saga means about 20 years have elapsed since Odysseus left for war. Love 💕 this!!!

Zakksu

My heart hurts so much seeing his furbaby not keep up cuz he's getting old 💕 And I'm glad you didn't pull another Mutiny haha My only critique I'd have for the first 2 songs is that it never name drops Telemachus & Antinuous' names in the song so technically how are we supposed to know who these specific chars are? We can figure out Telemachus but not Antinuous unless you saw the livestream to read his name on the animatics I wonder if he & the suitors will come back? Maybe then his name will be mentioned this time? Anyhoo can't wait for everything to come together in yalls Open Arms!

ShadowFox1412

his math is still off XD 7 plus 12 does not equal 20 XD. it was 12 (10) years in the trojan war and then he lands on calypso's island where 7 years pass. so it would have been 19 years total unless he's implying that a year has passed between thunder saga and trojan war

Kory Misun

I thought I was all cried out after the initial release of Wisdom. Hm, nope!

Liz Lilliman

Also about 15 mins before the live stream Jorge also lead us all in whatcha gonna do about it champ (shampoo at one time). I stayed up to watch it live and can understand how you feel as in the UK it started at 3am and I was getting up at 5.30 for a day out. Hey no sleep uet

Nika

What kind of subversion were you hoping for if I may ask? I can't really imagine anything

Hootie

Bit was good at the beginning. Keep it in xD

Kristina (LadyGreensleeves33)

I assume some time elapsed between Circe and Thunder Saga simply through prep and travel time alone - at least with regards to getting to and from the Underworld.

Seiryunohoushi

Ody said "It's been about 12 years or so" in Different Beast not just because of the joke about Jorge claiming 12 years but because it HAD been 12 years by then. When Zeus kills the rest of the crew, it's been 13 years. Thus 7 years later is 20 years. :)

Sleepy.novatea

Wisdom saga hours let's go

Kristina (LadyGreensleeves33)

In short: Jorge was vague-posting about how awesome the 'whatcha gonna do about it, champ?' delivery was before the saga even dropped 😂 It was stuck in his head. So he made it a meme himself really.

I'm a disabled vet from a family of vets. My dad deployed for a total of 15 years of my childhood. I definitely understand our boy here. Also Athena has always been my favorite character.

Mortius with his own Nat 20 moments during Legendary

Dorothy Rosenberg

The first time Epic noted 12 years had passed since Ody left for war. When questions arose about the math, the refrain became about 12 years, then 12 years or more. In the actual story it was 20 years. Really, it doesn’t matter: Epic is incredible - why worry about the math.

Logan Baxter

I'm actually pretty sure Ody did see Telemachus be born, he mentions in "Just a Man" that the Infant is "just as old as he was, when [he] left for war." Which to me suggests that Telemachus was 1 or 2 when Ody left, so he should be about 21-22, by my reckoning, though I may be wrong.

Sinlyanimeallday 300

This is incredible love seeing your analysis and reactions to it. You bring new perspectives and theories to the songs making them much more interesting. Also investing me further into the story ❤️.

Opal Saphyr

Bonus reference: Tel's great grandfather (so, Ody's grandfather) was a successful robber named Autolycus, meaning "'the wolf itself"

Jack Sheldrake

Not sure if it intentional, but the reprisal of Full Speed Ahead in Legendary, kind of shows that despite Telemachus not knowing Odysseus, he still shares some characteristics of his father (I.e. sings similar musical notes), which goes further into him wondering if he’s similar to his father or if he has the strength of his father. Plus I think his backing musical instruments is supposed to be a combination of both his Mom and Dad.

peachyfaerie

something i interpreted during the legendary part about sirens, cyclops, giants, and hydras: these are all things odysseus fought, so in a way, he wants to be like his dad, he wants to do the same things that he did and be legendary just like his dad. but the including the harpies, chimeras, minotaur, and cerberus was REALLY interesting to me because those are things unrelated to the odyssey, meaning he also wants to step away from his father's influence and be his own man. anyway mortius, i'm glad i finally got to join the patreon because your reactions and analysis have brought me a lot of joy over the past few weeks. i've been struggling with some physical and mental health issues and your videos are always a safe place for me. currently working through your reactions to hamilton with casper! also when you said "that reminds me of a fighter video game" in legendary i had the most sinister smile for you to see little wolf, haha <3

draeonic 🪼

It's fun to nitpick. And if we didn't worry about the math we wouldn't know about Elpenor!

SK Elkins

ETA: You know, on reflection, I don't know if I can really discuss where I thought the story might have been headed without getting into spoiler territory. Sorry.

Chase Elmquist

Remember in "Just a Man" how odysseus said "Your as old as he was, when I left for war." So telemachus was born before odysseus left but was very young Also those memes around "what you gonna do about it champ" was Jorge talking about it beforehand

Marla I.

Did anyone else pick up on the piano when Telemachus was singing?

Jeremy Sellers

Mortuis completely missing Athenas intro when Tel sings "give me a sign". Perfect

Chase Elmquist

Since you have never read it, this is the start of the Odyssey Everything we have seen, in the Odyssey, is Odysseus telling his story to another king

🔥Enby_Ember🔥

Love being able to binge these on my 7 hour bus ride

Jennifer Rose

might be flying to chicago??? spill the teaaa mortius 😂😂😂
