Glad you've finally seen one of his.

Yes! Sail North is such an amazing artist!! and this is awesome that you get to see the music video created by Neal!!

Julia King

I LOVE SAIL NORTH SO MUCH

Halfknight

Selkies are known to be similar to sirens but little more playful and not as “evil”. And yeah, seals instead of fish people. Also, that guy with the coin represents both the singer himself as well as captain of another song “the shadow”. And finally, yeah, the flaming ship was the main character’s old ship, the guy who cut the rope was likely his captain going down with the ship.

Halfknight

Also, Mortius having PTSD from Epic and the sirens made me laugh, had a similar thought when I first watched the video

Kyle

I think you will love “Compass”.

Julia King

Fun fact: selkies are said to be kind an benevolent creatures

River

This went unreasonably hard. Definitely gonna need this for my shanties list. I dig this a looooot. Definitely want more shanties myself if and when we can get em.

Selkies are these mythical seals, that can transform between human and seal using a fur coat. It’s Celtic mythology. They’re playful and sometimes mischievous water spirits. Nothing like the Greek sirens or other mermaids where they lure sailors to their deaths. If anything selkies have saved sailors from drowning. Also, “The Shadow” is a good one to listen to from sail north as that’s his first song and establishes lore for this world and the guy that was flipping the coin, who also doubles as sail north.

Nenny

I LOVE Sail North, if you need other suggestions: Compass, The Tale of the Shadow, Against the Tide, and Unsinkable. Bones is also good, but I like the other ones more.

Sarah Al-smadi

"Tale of the shadow" is amazing and I think you will love it mortius.

niteangel496

The Selkie when she meets the sailor : "Oh it's adorable ^_^" The Selkie after hearing his story: "Oh, it's traumatized :'( "

Kenzie Wing

Tale of the shadow, Bones, Unsinkable, and Against the Tide are really cool Sail North songs.

KyraWrites

Tale of the shadow and BONES! Anything by sail north is amazing but those are my favorites!! Compass is very good as well

Joe Fusco

Genuinely love the entire Sail North list but I think Compass is the one that will have the most impact, and it would go great double featured with Tale of the Shadow.

Emma DeFrank

If you want another emotional journey, PLEASE react to Compass

Megan May

Hey the Brooklyn Nine-Nine reference!

Apophis

Sail North is Celtic Shanty Pop, its also what he himself calls his music style as well, so his music does use pipes and other instruments common in Celtic music and he does mention folklore, such as the Selkies in this song.

Beepa

‘4 minute emotional journey of a lifetime’ 😁 welcome to Sail North

Kory Misun

The Selkie might have a darker shade beneath her nose to signify that she's more of a seal than a siren or a mermaid! Because of that, I felt safer when she approached.

Dorothy Rosenberg

Sail North is exceptional! Thank you for this introduction.

IndigoFusa

I’m watched this four times

Masochismet

The song: "a selkie" Mortius: "A mermaid!" ... close enough i guess lol

Kurosaru

I’d love to see mortius react to the tale of the shadow or compass. Though against the tide would be amusing as well

Kenzie Wing

If he has, I don't know where it is. I think he said he hadn't seen Sail North before. But maybe I missed it in the video.

Kerri Kortness

Gotta check out Tale of the Shadow. That's what really catapulted his popularity. Other than that, Against the Tide and The Phantom Sea are my favorites. Compass is another one that tells a story, similar to Broken Mast Bay, and they're actually somewhat connected! And Unsinkable is an amazing hype song.
