One of my Favorite shows ever!!! To answer your question about karnak, it depends on the production of whether karnak is a puppet or a person in a costume. In this production i believe it is a puppet with the actor behind it (i cant fully remember).

Yay!! I love Ride the Cyclone so much. I got into the fandom super early so it’s been exciting to see how much it’s grown. One, yes you are correct about only seeing five people. It will be explained. And I won’t point out what you have predicted correctly but you are channeling Karnak already. As for the footage you are using, I’m pretty sure you will be alright. Videos using it got taken down early on, but over time it seems like whoever owns the rights has embraced it. Most videos using the footage have been fine for the past few years. Also RIP to Fall Fair Suite. I love Uranium Suite but god this version is so special. Enjoy! This is a fantastic show.

Yeah god, Ride the Cyclone is such a wonderfully touching and silly musical. It’s just the right mix of absurdity and genuine feeling and it’s so incredible. I hope you love it just as much as I did! Oh, also, not relevant right now, but the first song, “Fall Fair” for this performance, has actually gone through like 4 revisions! Save it for later, but once you’re done, I would highly suggest looking up the big animatic by Rileyclaw for The Uranium Suite! And the RTC Opening Mashup! This one is wonderfully haunting, but the others do a better job of setting up how the kids felt about their town and their life before everything happened and it’s so cool I highly recommend it

Ok actually finished the video now that entire comment was left partway through because I was too hyped to contain myself. It’s pronounced sick-lick-cull lol I can’t wait for you to get to the next song, and the character in said song’s solo later in the show because based off your enjoyment of the haunting and dissonant qualities of this number. You will lose your mind. My favorite character in all of musical theatre. She’s everything to me.

I love Ride the Cyclone. As you get to the middle it certainly becomes a fever dream, but it’s enjoyable nonetheless, and the beginning and end really help it to have a sense of cohesiveness. And the location the kids are from is Uranium City, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Ohh baby. Oh boy. BoJD might explode your whole head. I have a whole video essay in me about Ricky Potts & how the fandom treats him and his song. I could write another about the juxtaposition of This Song Is Awesome vs Talia. Sugercloud is just my absolute favorite because of resonance. The ending song is the first time I’ve ever cried during a musical and I was raised on them. I have seen many many many moving musical numbers none of them broke me. I also recommend checking out the album version of the second song in your free time! It’s very different, and in some ways not as cool but I like it much better, personally. Oh boy oh boy oh boy 😃

Mortius, HEAR ME OUT: I know you don't want to pay for YouTube. I understand. But if you pay for Spotify (idk if you do, but I would guess so), which is $10/mo, consider switching to YT Music, included in YT Premium, which is $14/mo. I suggest this for 3 reasons: 1) you are always (understandably) frustrated by ads 2) because the $4 difference is probably money you'd save in paying your editor(s) bc it would cut down on raw footage time 3) Spotify has been very loud about supporting things politically that you have been very clear about being against. If it's a lesser of two evils...YT definitely feels like the lesser evil. (This comment is sponsored only by my autistic logic, not by YT, I promise. And obviously it all falls apart if you don't pay for Spotify, lol)

So glad you got to watch fall fair. I love Uranium Suite too (they changed Fall Fair for the recording and subsequent stagings), but I prefer fall fair. I think it flows into the second half better, and with a certain desperation that just hits harder. Can’t wait for the rest!

let's gooooooooooo!!!!! Super happy for this to come out, and having THIS recording is gonna be amazing!!! I have cried MULTIPLE times watching this show for how seen I felt with the Small Personalities in a Small town. (Plus the wierdness of how the cast will be "What they dreamed they could be" instead of percieved)

!!SAFE TO READ DW MORTIUS!! This show does have disability rep! However, there has been a history of ableism within the production. There has only been one disabled actor who plays this character, and he was fired for being “too disabled” ie they wouldn’t accommodate his disabilities. In more recent versions of the show, his disability has been erased from the script. I highly recommend checking out more after you watch the show.

I LOVE this musical and am so glad you're viewing probably the best production of it. It technically *is* a bootleg, but I *believe* it was filmed by the production team for preservation and sort of "stealth" released. The video was what made it super popular even though it didn't last off-Broadway and there are productions everywhere now. Yes, it's an existential crisis, but in the best way. Also - be aware this is a one-act musical with no intermission that runs 90 minutes. This is a good thing as there's no real place for a break.

I love this version, but I think they wanted to get away from "the disabled person is not disabled in the afterlife" which obliquely implied death was "better" for him - I don't think they meant this specifically and didn't mean harm but I'm glad they've updated it in various ways. I think in some productions Ricky doesn't use crutches - his quirk is he just stops talking and takes a vow of silence since his grandparents and cats made up a language.

i remember people contacting some of the cast of this production to ask if the leak bothered them - the general consensus seemed to be that since it was so long ago (this was 2016 iirc?) none of them really cared. i just think that's interesting!
