Hello Chris, can I ask you a question for the show? It is said China suffers from "irredentism", meaning it won't rest until it has reclaimed all land it believes has historically belonged to its borders. By this same logic, however, China should return all land that it has once conquered throughout all of its history, that comprises its contemporary borders. The answer to this question is of course very nuanced, but is it possible to show what the map of China would look like, were China to adhere to its own logic and return all historically annexed nations, tribal borders, and kingdoms? This is what a ChatGPT trained on historical data had to say about it: https://chatgpt.com/share/5c1a5d62-5191-4b1d-a31e-b7f8a67b051a P.S. I suppose that, as China feels it has a historic claim to Taiwan, it has by that very same logic a claim to Vietnam, which it has occupied for about a 1000 years. By that reasoning, by threatening Taiwan militarily, is the same as threatening Vietnam militarily. China is basically saying to Vietnam, "you're next." I think China is to cowardice to try and attempt war with contemporary Vietnam, but that just shows China's hypocrisy. In the end, there is no nation or piece of land that has not once belonged to a different people with a different name. We should all stop looking at the fluctuations of the past and be at peace with the ground we presently stand on, and seek prosperity through harmonious international relations and trade. Otherwise, following the logic of China (and Russia), there can only be endless war that can never truly be justified.

The CCP is always moving the goalposts. Some right-wing nationalists have started arguing that Okinawa, Guam, and the Hawaiian Islands are intrinsically within the natural Chinese sphere of influence.

Mongolia may as well reclaim its historical territory while we're at it.
