In honor of World AIDS day, this episode of China Uncensored examines China's AIDS Villages. Back in the early 90's a government run blood and plasma selling scheme in Henan province lead to estimates of one million rural farmers getting infected with HIV/AIDS. Despite attempts by the Communist Party, helped by then governor of Henan and current Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, through the work of AIDS activists like Gao Yaojie and Hu Jia, word got out. But the Chinese government still denies that it helped spread the virus to some of the poorest areas of China.
