I've been watching Queen videos today. Freddie was such a genius and "A Night at the Opera" was the first album I ever owned and it truly shaped my musical tastes. I love it when your musical background matches up with the movie reactions, Jen!

Dean

“Just poison him!” got me 😂

Dean

Brian Blessed as Prince Vultan is a *delight* in this movie. Funny enough, you saying the boss from the IT Crowd should play him, Brian Blessed played Matt Berry’s dad in Toast of London.

Jon Anderson

I've been looking forward to this one! It's one of the weird ass movies I grew up with, and I don't know anything quite like it. Amazing design.

Robert Cooper

This movie is so unrealistic. I mean, the NY Jets having a star quarterback? How am I supposed to take that seriously.

TigerMyth

You edited out the most quoted line of the movie. Blessed saying Gordon's alive?

Julian San

Jen, are you going to and your baby, Dalton?

Mark T

Everyone in this movie takes chewing the scenery to the max... but Brian Blessed as Vultan pushes it up to 11.. its totally ridiculous but also brilliant because it knows exactly what it is..pure fun.

Max du Coudray

Possibly my favorite movie ever. This is an example of a movie where everything is done right. It may not be the style of movie for everyone, but every choice was made such that it's the best movie it could be for what it's doing. Also, the production design is outrageous and even the effects still hold up. Only the hawkmen flying looks poor; everything else is gorgeous.

Ortizmo

As much shade as this flick gets for being corny and campy, Dalton and Von Sydow bring their acting A-games, and the Queen soundtrack is just un-FRIGGIN-beatable. And Riff-Raff from Rocky Horror? GTFO!

It's always hard for me to know what the most famous lines are if I'm not familiar with the movie and my editor isn't familiar with it either

TigerMyth

No way for you to know. Even YEARS after the movie came out if Brian Blessed was on a talk show, the host would make him say the line.

Glenn Galloway

Remember, Ming the Merciless is also Father Merrick from the Exorcist AND King Osric from Conan the Barbarian. All in the space of less than a decade. He was so prolific for so long, it's really a testament to his love of acting.

Alecco

I absolutely LOVE this movie!

Jen: "what kinds of superpowers does he have???" Me: "FOOTBALL!" hahahaha

LDC7080

I think this might be my favourite Jen reaction. I loved this as a kid and remember my dad taking me to see it at the cinema . I didn’t know it then but this movie would be responsible for my queen obsession and playing bass To most it’s a camp silly b movie to me it’s a major turning point in my future

flash gordon rly "borrowed" some stuff from perry rhodan i feel xD

Mike Miner

Man I saw this in the theater way back in the day and just for the Queen soundtrack. The movie itself actually pretty good and creative! Self-aware in its own cheesiness. Fun stuff!
