Has anyone suggested you listen to Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds album musical? I don't think you could do a reaction, but I think you might really enjoy it in your own time. I would start with the original 1978 release with Richard Burton as The Journalist (the main character). Jeff Wayne re-released a new composition of it in 2014 (The New Generation) with Liam Neeson as the Journalist. It's won't say anymore about the differences. I bought it as a double cassette when I was about 12 years old and I was addicted to it. It's a really great bit of prog rock storytelling. Fun to play through the stereo on a rainy Sunday.

In relation to this film, there was a tv series released in 1988 that served as a sequel. They make some minor changes to the lore to better align it with contemporary science, but there's at least one original film cast member that returns to guest star. It's only two seasons / 44 episodes but they were given enough time to wrap the story up. I can't properly vouch for the overall quality, but I remember really liking it and finding it creepy. Again, might be something for your own time, but I thought you might want to investigate.

I have loved Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds album (1978) since it came out! Particularly enjoy Richard Burton's character narration. Man, what a voice! Also love Justin Hayward's singing on Forever Autumn. 🎧
