Some of the male TNG actors packed on the pounds over the seasons, Frakes, Burton and Dorn, and it's more noticeable in this episode with Worf in that black body suit. Meanwhile the female actors had clauses in their contracts that stipulated that they had to keep their weight down. The show might take place in the 24th century but it was made in the 20th century.

Legitimately, the Star Trek universe, for all of its technological wonders, is TERRIFYING. Between wild “what is reality and what is the holodeck?” stuff to running into trickster alien gods to hostile aliens doing creepy crazy experiments, I don’t think I could live there
