In 2013, a man developed a food replacement product made of soy and lentils. He named it Soylent in tribute to this movie.

You didn't mention it, but the black guy in the detective's office pops up all over the Star Trek universe. That's as much as I'll say about him. You said Heston looks the same in every movie. I didn't recognize him in Tombstone. Did you? This has been considered a classic for many years!

In the book this was based on, the Soylent was actually a plant-based, soy-derived foodstuff. They made the infamous change just for the film version. There is a modern soy meal replacement drink called Soylent.
