Hi all,

I'm still working on getting some things from the production packaged up for you (a nice HD download of the film incoming, hopefully later today) but I also wanted to take a moment to slip in this short documentary made by Manu Mercurial, one of the animators on the pilot.

Fable and I were really touched by the things Manu had to say. But also, it's a glimpse into the process and what things were like on the project work server, in case anyone's interested. It's also about indie animation in general, and the ways in which audiences can steer the course for which things get made into full productions.

Why Animating on Lackadaisy Was Different

The Lackadaisy Pilot stands its ground in the history of 2D Animation. In this video I'll tell you how it was made, the challenges it faced, the wonders of crowdfunding, how I got involved in it as an Animator, and the power of "You got the job". It is no exaggeration when I say Lackadaisy changed my life's course. This animated production was unlike anything else, and it was a dream come true to be part of a Lackadaisy Animation. It inspired me to look into your work even more. Idk how none of my furry friends ever pulled up a Lackadaisy comic in our group chats, and I’ve been a furry since I was 13 years old! I remember watching some of your comic shorts on YouTube as a recommendation and I was inspired by the artwork. I started to get highly addicted to the art concept, it was as if I was introduced to a McDonald’s for the first time (cause McDonald’s is addicting, too addicting..). Then you posted the trailer for a short film and I was intrigued, hopped into your websites started looking at more and more of your videos and started to explore some of your comics (mostly shorts), and started to read more about your characters. Then when the short came out, I was taken away, first of all the fact that it’s a pilot got me absolutely excited. I have watched that pilot 5 times in awe, and I am now trying to catch up to your comics. I am also planning on getting two of your Rocky shirts for me and my fiancé, AND I’ve done something I never thought I’d ever EVER do in my life, I subscribed to someone’s Patreon immediately, your patreon, the one and only time I’d ever subscribe to a Patreon, and it was because your art and your story has blown me away. I seriously hope to hear more from your work, Tracy.

The pilot was a real success ^^ I love it. I hope there will be a serie in the future.

You’re very welcome! You really are hard at work with this story and that’s awesome! Keep doing what you enjoy doing, this is only the beginning!

I'm being fully honest here, watching this motivated me so much. I actually got up and started taking care of myself after watching this, and then proceeded to do some work (after 2 weeks of procrastinating). You guys are an inspiration, congratulations on the pilot's success! :)
