This reaction is a bit of a bust. I didn't realize a key piece of information until the second to last track—his voice failing during a show at Sofi in 2022. Once I learned that, lots of things snapped into place, but by then the album was basically over.

I'll report back after more listens.

Enjoy!

Since you mentioned Thriller I’ve got to ask if you’ll ever do a full MJ journey from Off The Wall to Invincible?

Seneca White

Album feels like a movie

Samuel C

If you like the sound of São Paulo you should check out some Brazilian funk in your free time, that’s the sound it’s coming from. DJ Ramemes has some banger tracks, Peggy sampled some for ILDMLFY.

FrenchFry

The sound Bob makes at 2:17:47 lol

Quinn McCabe

IMO you were 100% on with your idea of the shadow self and his own self, but rather than being his demons/vices I think it's just the persona/career and himself as a person

FrenchFry

Bob got what he asked for when asking more from a music video after timeless lmao

Daniel Rasmussen

its not only the final entry to his trilogy, its his final entry as The Weeknd - thats the greater context you're missing here it seems like. Thats why the album is as large as it is

cameron mackinnon

Whilst the outro of the final song doesn’t transition into the intro, it does transition into High For This which is the intro to House Of Balloons his first mixtape sort of also ending his discography as The Weeknd sonically as well as thematically in the album

Cesar Guillen

Am I tripping or did he not react to Beauty Behind the Madness?

blurr

Bob, not sure if you know this, but the duo who produced some of the tracks on this album (Justice) are absolute legends in the electronic dance scene given the fact he's worked with Daft Punk before and the whole 80s aesthetic he's going for, the crossover actually makes perfect sense lol

Nate Rohaly

I have always thought that The Weekend speaks to his fans a lot in his music and how they view him. Best example that I have for reference would be “Rolling Stone.” So on some of the lyrics you were having a difficulty with, I would try and view it as him just speaking to his fans.

Poptartsnacks

Hello bob! (This has nothing to do with the weekend) I think you should check an acc on all platforms called @shepgold he also reacts to music I think you guys would be good friends

Anderson Feld

I was missing you referring to this line in I Can’t Wait To Get There: "the darkness keeps you shining […] just sign on the dotted line" I thought this could mean the industry also wants him not go get out of this darkness, because it keeps him shining, which obviously is lucrative to them

Philip Müller

The end fades to the very beginnin of house of ballons, his fist album.

King Capital

Yeah I’m usually on board witcha Bobby, but I reallyyyy like the 2nd half of the album more than the 1st. Maybe I like slower, more patient music

Logan Blake

you don’t have to understand it off of first listen bob, it’s okay to just enjoy the music the first listen.

Justin

He would enjoy reacting to music by the producers of albums he listens to like Justice or OPN

Angel

can i get a invite to the discord please

The Gr8 Scott

I heard they were making a movie about this album, so that helps explain the cinematic scope of the album, but it also fills me with 20 layers of absolute terror after the music videos.

* *

I know i say this on every review bob, but if you're feeling stressed about work "The Powers That B" from Death Grips is a wonderful album that will help you. you should really consider reacting soon

seth

watching this from today and i hope somehow he watches the Music Videos in order like he did for the previous album’s despite him doing them all in one + Watching the Movie and thoughts on it tying into the album itself
