Liquid Swords = The Tongue That’s the theme of this album. They are using their tongue/words as weapons to fight other MC’s, the system, religion, crooked police, poverty and crime. The setting and theme of the album is dark and cold like metal or steel. And their words/verbal steel/swords are countering the cold dark reality. Steel vs steel in a sense.

Brandon Williams

The Wu Tang members are a part of the 5% nation. It’s basically an offshoot of Islam, they aren’t Christians but believe there is truth in both the Bible and Quran, where they believe there is one ultimate God and that every man is a mini god, that’s why they refer to each other as god. And that the world is broken up as 85% of the people are deceived and controlled by the 10% in power, and that 5% are aware and fight the wicked 10%.

Protons Electrons Always Cause Explosions= PEACE 💎

I couldn’t wait to check your reaction to this album, 4th Chamber is a top 5 favorite, dope ass beat.

Regarding the last track, B.I.B.L.E.: Killah Priest is a Black Hebrew Israelite. Wikipedia straight-up says that they "falsely believe that they are the descendants of the ancient Israelites." So, Priest converted from Christianity to a sort of self-made set of beliefs based on his own eclectic interpretations of scripture. There are many groups of BHI, but on the whole, they get a lot of negative media attention for hostile acts toward Jewish people (whom they deem false Jews). Most recently, they got attention for protesting in Brooklyn in favor of basketball player Kyrie Irving's right to tweet a link to an anti-Jewish film. WITH ALL THAT SAID, I still found B.I.B.L.E. a tremendously important song in my adolescence, as I was working through inconsistencies I saw in my religious community and worldview. Today, I find some of the song's opinions disagreeable, but none of that diminished the hypnotic call I heard to explore truth and think for myself.

The Cold Vein by Cannibal Ox for another perfect winter album

Alex VonBerg

Yo Bob you gotta watch Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai if you haven't seen it. RZA does the soundtrack/score, and it has this same winter feel and combo of hip hop/Samurai Street philosophy. Especially since you did Honor Killed the Samurai so recently too.

4th chamber is my favorite hiphop track of all time, great reaction

Shawn Harden

I have watched this man react to music so much that I know his sensibilities to the point where I can guess his favorite tracks on every album. Lol

Jae

This is my favorite album of all time. B.I.B.L.E. is Killah Priest converting from Christianity to The Five-Percent Nation. GZA has a great eye for talent, he also gave Ka his first commercial guest feature back in 2008 on a track called Firehouse.

EzeeDuhzit

Classic album. Cold world is one of my favorite Rza beats of all time.

Kyaw Myat

Glad you reacted to this album Bob! Been waiting for this one, one of favorite albums of all time. I recommend checking out Ironman by Ghostface Killah for the next Wu album.

Victor Romano

KA does his own version of sorts to the track “Labels” off his Knight’s Gambit album. On the song “Off The Record”, KA proceeds to wax lyrical about his youth while slyly dropping the titles of nearly a hundred classic hip hop albums in between his bars. Great watch as always.

Louie Henry

great reaction. dont sleep on Only Built 4 Cuban Linx and Big L

Paulie Walnuts

Bobby!!! We back baby!!! I know you had to do what you had to do the last few months so all good but back to classic hip hop, this is what I'm here for. Goes without saying you need more Wu. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Tical, Ironman and Wu Tang Forever. Get them done. But cannot wait for Blueprint, Jay Z = stoicism. Protons-Electrons-Always-Cause-Explosions

bobthepoppop

Ah okay, that explains why it seemed like they were somewhat talking about both religions

bobthepoppop

It's an interesting song, for sure. It was neat to explore Killah's beliefs a little, even if I didn't fully understand everything that was being said

bobthepoppop

Getting lots of calls for Built 4 Cuban Linx now, but I'd like to check out all of the essentials eventually

Top 5 album of all time for me. GZA is my favorite Wu Tang artist but B.I.B.L.E. Is on of the best songs I’ve ever heard. Priest killed that track and it’s my favorite by a wide margin on the album.

Granados

From when you started this hip Hop journey I always knew when you got to 4th chamber you would instantly love that beat! Also go back to those Chappelle show skits you mention from time to time lot of Wu tang references. RZA & GZA we’re in a few of them as well
