Spencer Thompson

To answer your question has drake ever made a trap album the answer is yes in IYRTITL and WATTBA…both are full of songs similar in style to where ya at and mostly devoid of the slower tracks

Logan Blake

IYRTITL is one of drakes best albums and it’s trap, gotta donit

VeganMilk

The first time I ever went to the club, I saw a line of women synchronically twerking to Real Sisters. My life hasn’t been the same since.

Ryan Naylor

Best trap album right next to Trap Muzik, hope you get into it

Logan Blake

WE NEED A MONSTER REACTION ASAP. Sooo goood

YetiCoolBrother

Whoever gave you that tip about alot of Future's lyrics being "ominous" when you really think about it is a true Future fan like me, that's literally been the X factor to his music since he first popped off with the "Astronaut Status" mixtape. All of his best songs lean in to that heavily.

sam

good album, i cannot listen to the full album all the way through. I just pick my favs and listen when i'm doing something

YetiCoolBrother

Gotta comment again cuz that annotation on "tried to make me a pop-star and they made a monster" could not be more off lol. Basically, prior to DS2 Future dated, had a kid with, and ultimately separated from R&B singer Ciara (who's currently married to Russell Wilson). During the time he was with her their relationship was very public, and to take advantage of that Future's music got alot more "pop friendly" around that time like with his album "Honest". After they broke up Future was more or less painted as the bad guy, took a bit of time off, but then came back with his now legendary mixtape run (one of which was of course "Monster") back in like 2016-2017 that culminated in the release of DS2.

Logan Blake

You also gotta think about the fact that NO ONE was doing trap this way before Future. He paved the way.

You said you’re wondering if there’s more to Blood On The Money. it’s a pretty clever line because it’s literal as well as being a metaphor. Obviously the meaning of having blood on it literally because it was gained from a murder/robbery. But “blood money” is earned through nefarious ways. Criminals have to launder money through legit business in order to “clean” it and make it legit to be able to put in their bank accounts. So that’s why he’s referencing an actual laundromat. And to go a bit deeper, the best business fronts that launder illicit money are business that deal in mainly cash (for obvious reasons). Laundromats have been notorious for laundering money because you used a lot of change and small bills (especially back when credit cards were heavily used) to pay for the laundry machine. It’s easier to mix drug money with clean money to disguise the income. Idk if that’s what you’re referring to when you say you’re wondering if there’s more to it. But I’ve always thought it was a pretty dope metaphor submerged in relatively simple lines that kind of goes over some peoples heads.

Logan Blake

Fuck it Bob, GIVE US A 2 IN 1. Please do his mixtape MONSTER on Monday so you can hear even more of his variety to get a true ear for him. That would be perfect for your journey into trap

I was waiting for this lol

Also, Trap N***a and Fuck Up Some Commas came out before this album on his mixtapes ‘56 Nights’ and ‘Monster’, respectively. Which lead up to this release. They were basically the most popular songs on those mixtapes, so he included them in the deluxe version of DS2 as well. Helps with streaming numbers and pushing the song to further popularity obviously.

VeganMilk

Yes please…”If You’re Reading This” for January would be great

Braden

We need all the ASAP Rocky albums in order before the one coming out soon. You won't regret it.

Great video !

Litty Again

this album is no skips for me personally, i play it front to back and just vibe

Malek

Great comment, just want to correct the timeline. Monster came out in October 2014. He then released 10 projects within 3 years, all of which are worth checking out imo.

Leverage

Bob believe it or not Future and Outkast are loosely tied together. Both members of the dungeon family! You should look it up it’s some knowledge that might catch even hardcore hip hop heads by surprise

FN Code

I think listening to the lyrics on traps isn't necessarily a bad thing. The lyrics are just fun/carefree bars

Ryan

If you thought Drake fit well on Where Ya At, you'd love If You're Reading This It's Too Late.

Tony b3235

Monster mixtape is a must. that one you can dive into lyrics a little bit more. also great to hear more drake on the way. regardless what ppl say drake is great on trap beats. drake and future have what a time to be alive which is really good and short.

PissGossypiboma

“Just bought a new WHIP, like I'm a slave master”, get it?…

King Capital

Bob reviewing the lyrics “ima put my thumb in her butt” has me so weak

Ian

The Percocet and stripper joint is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Oliver Hed

If you’re gonna do more Future I HIGHLY recomend Purple Reign and Save Me. These two projects reeeaaaally show the range Future has which isn’t really shown too much on this album

Joey

I think maybe seeing how much plays a song has is like a placebo effect and it makes you think a song might not be as good before listening to it , Colossal is great and the sounds work great just give it some time and more listens and you’ll see !

Shaquan WP

I 100% agree with the idea of you doing Monster on Monday. That would be soooooo good.

Huiza

Binge watching the reactions at like 3AM, i just hope you do monster and save me together, Monster is like 40 mins, Save Me about 20, it's more or less the the hour of DS2 but those 2 projects compliment each other so so much, Codeine Crazy just flows to Xanax Damage theme wise

Helmer Moreira

You need to react to “HNDRXX” from Future, that’s the best R&b album from the last decade.

bobthepoppop

Love this, thank you. It's hard to believe, but it's a hell of a compliment, so I'll just accept rather than try to crack a joke to dismiss it ❤

bobthepoppop

I've actually listened to Trap Muzik already. Not all of it, and only once, but I put it on after people mentioned it being important to listen to while also saying it isn't that amazing (not worth a reaction). I found it to be... okay.

bobthepoppop

Yeah, I'm interested in more Future projects. I was going to try and do 56 Mondays over the weekend for a Monday video, but it didn't work out

bobthepoppop

I was watching some interviews with Future and man... they could not stop bringing his damn dating life. Poor dude seemed to be so over it, but people can't let it go

bobthepoppop

I understand the double meaning. I think the deeper layers are more my being curious about the actual situations he's referring to, which... if he's smart, he won't mention in his own song :)

bobthepoppop

I was hoping to do 56 Mondays, but my back gave out on me early Sunday morning and that pretty derailed the next 48 hours

bobthepoppop

Dungeon Family! I've heard some of that in the interviews I've been listening to with Future

bobthepoppop

Listens does have an influence. That's one thing I liked about using Tidal, it didn't show the numbers. Colossal has grown on me 👍

Denzhil

Bob please react to more Mac Miller and JID

Tribecalledjoe

NWTS/IYRTITL Friday/Monday combo would be crazy! But if you’re going to do them on their own pls do NWTS first it’s going to get you super comfortable with Drakes cadences and styles before you head into what he does with IYRTITL. It’s the release order but also the best order to listen to them in

Spencer Thompson

I would generally agree but Bob has been pretty clear about not enjoying the “poppier” drake stuff. He’s already heard Take Care which is Drake’s most similar album to NWTS imo. I think IYRT first will give him a Drake experience that is less similar to what he’s already had. Wouldn’t complain about a combo review though…although I’d want him to do views

Tribecalledjoe

NWTS has arguably the best “rapper” drake bars of all of his albums even just off Tuscan Leather alone, it’s literally the album that solidified people respecting him as a rapper. Take Care to me was ALL pop, ALL sing songy pretty much besides maybe one or two tracks. You get smacked In the face with the entendres, cadences, flows and beat switches he uses during NWTS, not to mention the soundscapes that are much more exciting to me then IYRTITL. In the end it’s up to Bob but I think going release order will give him a more rewarding experience

OnlineFor3ver

As some one who’s listened to this album weekly since it’s release, Cant stress enough how refreshing it is to hear you enjoyed the least listened to songs on the album. That being said I’ve noticed your opinion sways depending on listens a song displays, i know you’ve brought it up multiple times in your reviews. Just an observation, hope it doesn’t dissuade enjoyment on the overlooked songs.
