There is also a 20 minute Christmas special called Gift of the Night Fury that was set between the first and second movie. It’s really cute and they do reference something that happens in it during the third movie. Also the other reason Gobber never married is cause he is gay. The line was an ad lib by the actor that the director decided to keep in as part of the characters back story.

The Netflix show is so good, it takes place after httyd 1 but before 2 and most of the voice cast returns... just overwall the franchise is one of my favorite things ever
