HOLY SHIT! I love everything about this movie. SORRY our Alien lore is still limited lol maybe 2025 is the year to catch up on prequels and sequels but I'm still obsessed with this movie. In particular the space sequences are fucking amazing. And obviously Fede Alvarez never holds back on the gore and scares 🤣 Enjoy this extended react! Next up a pallet cleanser as we wanted to laugh a bit so today we watched TUCKER AND DALE vs EVIL 😂

As an Alien franchise fan, this was a love letter to us and tied in nearly every previous installment. Nothing but respect from all involved in the making. The stand out for me was the actor who played Andy. The only negative I had was the bad Cgi on Rook and I didn't really like the Offspring's design but appreciate them going for it. Ppl complain about there being too many call backs but I like the additions from Fede. We always just saw chest burster to full Xeno and now have an idea of the full transformation. Also the way Bjorn's electrical attack seemed to become part of the Xeno that caught Rain in the elevator shaft. New lore I need to know more about. Plus the facehuggers always creeped me out more than the xeno so I'm glad they were such a threat this time.

I read that the director found the special fx and sets teams from Aliens (1986) to design the monsters and the sets to keep that 80’s feel

Bridgette is lowkey funny as hell

Yeah the cgi for Rook wasn't great, but I like the idea (and love the rest of the movie) enough to not really count it as a negative. But if there was one, it would be that. I loved The Offspring design, but it is a crazy one, so I don't expect everyone else to.

Ash

I wonder if there was some post release editing because Rook's cgi looked better here than premiere weekend...or maybe I was expecting it lol.

The bird was a canary (or was meant to be the scifi equivalent). They were used in coal mines to alert miners to dangerous carbon monoxide levels. They stop singing, pass out, and then usually die. It gave miners a chance to escape. They havent been used since the 60s, but Weyland/Yutani are cheap as fuck, love the little extra cruelty, and they love to clone shit.

Nimo-the-Red

Prometheus doesn't really say God is real, there is a scripted scene that connects Christianity but I don't think they ever filmed it and it still didn't say god was real, it's a little more complicated. But I'll wait til after you see Prometheus.

Can you PLEASE teach pugapillar how to Edit films so we feel like we watch them? He needs help

KayJayO

fun fact they used to use canaries in mines to detect gas leaks and stuff, so, since this is a mining colony, that’s probably why the birds

The human/Alien hybrid reminded me of the crusty lady from Barbarian for some reason….

Becca

The Alien/Predator franchise is a *must*! Even the ‘bad’ ones are fun for sci-go fans m!

They finally went back to the character building that made the first two movies amazing. They took their time to let the audience get to know the characters, so when they die, we actually care. The space shots were amazing and I agree, the only negative is the uncanny valley you get from Rook being de-aged so he looks like Ash from Alien. All the creatures were practical, even the human-alien hybrid. That was some 7 foot 5 inch+ tall man and this was his first movie. They just did such an excellent job nailing the entire aesthetic so it vibed with both Alien and Aliens as well as the game, Alien : Isolation. There was a lot of set pieces that were very much inspired by the game, even down to the video phones on the wall that are used to save your game. This was, hands down, the best Alien movie since Aliens. I put it right up there with the original and sequel. I still did like 3, Resurrection was a mess but still a fun movie. I enjoyed Prometheus and Covenant and don’t think they deserve as much hate as they get, but that’s just my opinion. Alien has always been one of my favorite franchises and this movie was absolutely made for the fans, much like Deadpool & Wolverine was.

Even though the planet at the beginning has a sun, it's possible it has synchronous rotation so only one side faces the sun just like we only see one side of our moon.
