Need back up for this kind of issue. Also, as terrible as it is for the cave people, they have been controlled for decades. Another few weeks before rescue won’t make things much worse.

It was said that the man was not a arcanist, i doubt that he is that far beyond a spellbinder ether. Plus if push comes to shove (if im not mistaken) isnt their a way for him to call for Edgar’s help. Also, this is just a trial he can always tap into dusk if he finds himself in trouble and needs help quickly. Their is also the fact that situations like this tend to spiral out of control quickly if left to their own devices how far away is Malakai from Edgar anyways, a few days a week 2, this trial is supose to take a mounth how much far into it are we?

Yeah but that does put the main trial at risk, and the beastgate is rather splendidly aligned with mal's current goals. Risking a beast mark is a real risk IMO, even if his life isn't actually at too much risk.
