hello everyone, I'm working on improving stability, uncached full files will take a while to load and imports are a bit backlogged both due to bandwidth. Thank you.

Like I implied in the story, there will be two death votes. The first one will be this, and the second one will be for what sort of undead he's going to work with.

Fungus fungus fungus! For real, though, Fungal Lock was Malachi's first combat spell, it fits super well with his whole foresty nature warrior vibe he's starting to build up, and fungus is just cool.

I feel torn between fungal magic and autumn magic. I think both would be interesting and fitting choices for Malachi. However, while Malachi is perfectly capable of learning and doing prep work, I worry that it could be potentially tedious for him, which would make it harder to thrive with it. I feel that cultivating plants and fungi would be more his thing.

Imagine for a second Arcanist Mal. The winds of fortune blow him towards a village in need and he stumbles across what is the start of a beast wave. As the beasts dominated by a 6th gate beast lord begin to gather strength a gentle mist spreads through out the their ranks. Soft sounds and phantom images appear and disappear, and when you look down a carpet of a dozen mushrooms, mosses, molds, and lichen growing before your eyes. Each letting out a different set of spores that lull the tide to rest while Mal negotiates with the lord and offers him a gift to stay their hand and find a new path towards refining the next generation, or a threat if they do not. Fungal lock set us on the path to benevolence, go back and look at the troll fight in book one and Ory's thoughts. I think its worth committing, and its synergies with his best buddy the astral realm that is the embodiment of a forest are obvious and plenty.

honestly, a mix might be best? Fungal and autum magic look to me like they synergie very well, and their are bits of vampire magic that synergize with the full gate spells with draining vitality and healing (not dedicated but having the option). It seems counter to our current dynamic build to fully lock us into one route, atumnual gurdens of leaves and straw with powerfully enchanted clothing infested with mushrooms to act as a backbone, and running with blood invested with power. It also offers more and more diverse options for his roots to “borrow” from, mixing magic is the way to go! I will also say this mix is that way that the other magic is going, and mixing the types of magic. And not or lesserly taking undeath magic seems the path to go, with spirit in my opinion being the only non-objectionable path of undeath magic, and only to negotiate with spirits

Mixing is great, and that's kind of what he's doing. But he can't have the spells for the undead, fungus, detritus, harvesting spells, and other stuff all crammed into one gate. There hits a point where room becomes a limiting factor.

I think Malachi just would not excel at Detritus magic, just like how he failed in organizing books anything more than a minor in the sitting still/ prep focused Detritus magic is going to be a struggle.
