Her parents don't have a healthy relationship. Her mom is clearly the abuser, violence is violence no matter who's doing it. Her father keeps flirting with that woman even though he knows his wife will beat him. 🙄 They're toxic for each other but the show normalizes this crap.

I mean a show showing something that happens in real life doesn’t necessarily mean it’s trying to “normalize” it. Unfortunately abusive/toxic relationships happen a lot around the world. It’s always funny to me because sometimes when a show shows a perfectly happy and healthy couple there are people who always go “this is not realistic, in Korea a lot of relationships are so toxic” etc and then when toxic relationships IS shown it’s “why are they normalizing this” idk this is just my take but I don’t think anyone watching this show (any sane person at least) envy’s or likes the relationship of bong-son’s parents because it’s very obvious unhealthy. I think most if not everyone can see how mean the wife is to her husband. It’s the same thing as when people say “Korea is always trying to cover up their issues and they’re always trying to show that they are perfect” but then when they make shows about the bullying which very much happens in Korea, I see people say “why are they always putting bullying in their shows”. Again this is just my opinion on the situation, I understand you probably disagree. Also this isn’t me saying that just because abuse happens a lot means they should always be showing it, I’m just saying that it’s not particularly wrong if they sometimes do. I just wished they did actually bring up their relationship tho. Just like Bong-soon was able to call out her mom for the way she treats her, I wished someone brought up how her parents are to each other.

so many reactors gloss over the fact that the cop and the cellist have only been together for ~3 months, and he clearly is absent in the relationship. not only is he constantly consumed by work, but he is also in love with bong soon. im sure the cellist was lonely for most of their very short time together and could also feel he was emotionally disconnected or not completely dedicated to being with her. she was portrayed as the one who clearly reached out for meetups and he was portrayed as only showing up briefly, if at all. and to be honest, that's a running thing with him. communication is not his strong suit. her getting the feels for someone else is not so out of pocket, and she even came clean to him and told him she was being swayed. im also not upset that bong gi would want to date her. again, his friend only dated her for a very short while, and was very clearly not entirely in to her. he also broke up with her because he was in love with another woman. so i personally dont think the cop would care if his friend dated his 'ex', if you can even consider her that.
