Finale is early! 🤣 And I'm here for it! 😍😂

For me, I think most dramas take too long to get somewhere. Basically, I watch actors I am attracted to and even if the show is just mediocre, I still watch it for the actors. But some shows have really good side stories or interesting side characters who I enjoy and I keep watching for that too. Nowadays Korea is getting smarter and doing shorter dramas, like 8 to 12 episodes. If I think about it, American shows have drastically cut down from before. I remember Star Trek having like 22-24 episodes a season to now just 10 a season. It seems most changed around the time GoT was on air and doing really well with just 10 eps a season. Of course I still enjoy the long dramas, especially if it's actors I really, really like. Then I want to see them doing everyday little things and it's not boring at all. It all comes down to the genre and who's in it, for me.

I personally enjoyed this show more than you guys. Fantasy is a favorite and especially if the characters have a magical background. I loved the main cast and the plot. I just wish they had more fighting. I really wanted to see the old Naksu take down some people and for the story about mages who have to train to do magic...there wasn't enough action for my taste. This could've been done in 22 episodes if they cut all the recaps and slo mo stuff out. 😂 Uk and Yul...major hotties. It's 8 1/2 for me. 😍😂

As for the period dramas, not that I've watched a lot of them, but I have to disagree - there're period shows that are as fast-paced as the ones set in modern times. In the case of this one, it's not really a period piece but a fantasy since Daeho is an imaginary country and things that happen here are quite modern - i.e. people with short hairdos and even dyed hair like Dang-gu in Part 1, servants getting smart with the nobelties (Mu-deok and Sun-i, the annoying maid to young lady Heo). But I agree with you on the rather slow pace of this show. Having 30 episodes might've allowed them to go a little slower than usual and put more time in character development and setting up & building up the plot. At first I didn't feel engrossed in it, but the thing is it never occured to me to stop watching (as it was interesting enough to keep me in). And by the 10th episode, I found myself fully into the story and, more importantly, the characters. I won't say it was by design, but it's a show that works that way. Judging by the fact that there are a lot more people that loved it than those that hated it would mean it was successful, I guess.

The thought of Park jin and maidservant Kim dying had me panicking🥲

I'm not really a fantasy drama person because I can't get into it really. However, this is the first and only one I've watched, and I love it.

Jang Uk's actor is 187cm so a little under 6 foot 2, since you were wondering. 😉

Hey guys, I do want to congratulate and thank you for not dropping the show. It was long. 🤣😂😘

i don't know why 'long' kdramas always get flack when there are western dramas that have 5+ seasons with an average of 22 episodes a season and yet people are always praising them. make it make sense

Not these two figuring out bu-yeon was gonna give her body to naksu in the end while my grown ass man was crying and mad all the time until the very end 😂

I enjoyed this thanks. Though I would agree, I usually steer away from period dramas too since they feel long and very schemy ploty to me haha. (not all but a lot). But I enjoyed this, Thanks :)
