i think you guys missed it cause you were talking to each other when the prof was talking about hungry spirits :normally evil spirits have grudge against someone in particular so they can cast away by relieving the grudges BUT hungry ghosts dont do that they feed on the inner desires of the people they get attached to so you cannot get rid of them and then he told her that's why a friend of his who was possessed by hungry ghost comitted suicide and thats also the reason why yoonjung just stood their infront of the car once they realize what they did due to the hungry host its unbearable to continue on

also the detective didnt try to solve the case for her he has his own motivations cause logically he ruled out she wasnt the one cause he was with her at the bar at the time of crime and still continued to solve the case hence the dialogue he had (the other guys dont know about this) cause he wanted the promotion by solving this case thats why he didnt tell the other guys even tho it was their case to begin with and thats why they were disappointed in him cause he was there at the scene of crime and had vital info but didnt disclose it to them and i think he also said to her to come to him at the bridge scene if she did anything cause then he will have a huge case on his hands too
