Our Beloved Summer  (그 해 우리는)

This is one of the rare kdramas that didn't rush and ruin the ending, and took it's time to wrap up everyone's character. And I love how till the end it was an absolute cinematic masterpiece. With how they muted the first 'I love you' so that Yeon Su was the first one to hear it from Ung and then the audience and Ung drawing Yeon Su for the first time on the book called 'I like early summer' by writer Lee Na Eun which was supposed to be the Korean title of the drama at first and the writer is actually the writer of the drama. It really puts into perspective how detailed every bit of the show is and how they thought so much about the directing and the writing of the drama. Also a movie came out after this drama which is just a bunch of interviews of the characters (unfortunately there is no sub of this) and Ji Ung confirmed that Chae Ran and Ji Ung are getting married so even though Ji Ung never confessed to Yeon Su, he did move on and find love. Thank you so much for the reaction to this drama!! Can't wait for Goblin and DOTS too (just a warning you will find it a bit dragging and slow but they were amazing dramas back in 2016)

Can't wait for Goblin

I love the realism in this Kdrama; the vulnerabilities, insecurities, growth and how nuanced the acting was. Choi Woo Shik and Kim Dami do so much with the quiet parts and they don’t rush it but can absolutely reveal what they are feeling with looks and quiet gestures. Their chemistry is not fiery but as a viewer I can feel the love they had for each other. It is one of my favorites with the cinematography, story telling and great acting along with a superb romantic OST. I am so glad you selected this drama. Thank you!

Even though it's slow, I do like it because of the complexity of the characters in the last episodes and the music. For me Ji-ung is a main character too, and he really made the show for me.

I love Iatewon Class 😂 The show as a whole is so good, I don't care if her character is an ass. But I didn't like the actress until I saw The witch 😲

I'm here for the reviews! 😂 And always surprised at the rating after the reviews. Hey, the only good thing about Itaewon was the cameo by Park Bo Gum as a new Chef at the end. 🤣😍😂

happy you were at least able to enjoy it somewhat! Hoping after goblin/dots we could see Mr Sunshine or The Legend of the Blue sea!

I loved seeing you react to this, it was fun to see you wish for all the cliches before they happened hahah I don’t know if you noticed you did that. I think for the show Ung knowing about Ji-Ung was good enough. He stopped lying to his friend and that was it. But I agree, it felt unfulfilling. And I’ve to agree with you about the chemistry, I don’t think the direction of the show paid much attention to that. It felt a little bit like from the moment they started recording the first doc they were already behaving like a married couple, not much tension. And I totally get you Harris, I think I enjoyed this show more because I’m an artist and architecture designer so Ung’s job was super interesting to me and very relatable, without that I wonder if I would be able to feel the same way about the show. Can’t wait for Goblin 😁

I had a discussion with some coworkers about MBTIs and I mentioned that i'm an ISFP which are known for creativity, but I'm not so much into the drawing/painting art works but just more into videography/cinematography as well as just having life as my canvas instead, so that part of the show didnt really hit me as much as other people. But it's cool to see it got you interested in that regard! -Harris

Thank you and good job getting through it! I agree with people above! I'm not gonna lie, i am a tad offended that this show didn't make you go bananas like it did to me (LOL) but i loved watching it AGAIN (seriously, how many times, i don't even know anymore) with you. I wish you could've watched the movie/mockumentary that came after the final episode. It has all the actors remaining in character, shooting a documentary about the show lol. Ji-ung is getting married to Chae-ran and Ung and Yeon-su mused about having kids. I can't wait for Goblin and DOTS! They will be outdated, but they are such landmark dramas and are constantly referenced, so it'll definitely make kdrama viewing experience richer for you in the future, I'm sure.

Yes! It makes total sense. Motion Media it’s its own thing (the seventh art?). And I bet that made Ji Ung that much more relatable hence the ending being more bitter than sweet hahah
