Yoona

That last tunnel scene is the most iconic scene in kdrama world

i don't want to spoil anything for you, but is it spoiling when i feel like you just don't know because the subs deprived you of information? When little Eun Tak met the Reaper and the grandma showed up and made him leave, she told her "Because I am fond of you. I was so happy when I blessed you into life." Which the subs totally butchered and completely changed into something like "your mom was happy when she had you"--fictional writing, not translating if you ask me. At this point, any Korean or anyone with knowledge of Korean folklore would have immediately realized who the grandma is. But again, I don't want to spoil anything. You really should get better subs if you can. =(

Danis

If anyone wants to know the folklore: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsin_Halmeoni

I agree! Even the jokes are “adapted” to western and they just completely make it up, resulting in complete nonsense.

I am really enjoying rewatching with you guys…… it’s even better because you guys pick up on small details really fast 👍🏽

I know we’re not supposed to bring up the age gap debate anymore or the fact that it’s creepy to have a 19 year old be a romantic interest for a man in his 30’s. But pay attention. The show is telling us in many ways that that notion is awkward at this stage in the storyline. It’s been implied in many scenes. But love comes in many form. It doesn’t always start as a romantic love. These are 2 souls recognizing each other as being the other half missing. A dying old soul with an immortal body that needs the optimism of youth to revive him and make him appreciate life again and a young soul with a vulnerable body needing someone to protect her and give her stability. Yes, it will eventually turn into romantic love, then sexy love but that’s in due time.

I dropped this show eventually cause the I did find the age gap uncomtable but it was more in how she acted soo young. I stuck around mainly for the goblin/reaper bromance and comedy. it deffo deserved the praise in terms of quality and humour but Il finish watching with you beacuse I still think it will be good. Kim Go Eun is a great actess, her other tv dramas are worth checking out. A film - Tune in for love and shows Little Women and Yumi Cells are excellent!

I can confirm that it was filmed on location in Quebec city (more precisely in Old Quebec), and the red door they traveled through became a tourist spot with multiple news articles and media coverage. The scene in Paris (1968) from the first episode was also filmed in Quebec city, but then again if Montreal can pass for New York city in 100s of movies, Quebec can pass as Paris in a kdrama. Was lucky enough to randomly see some of the filming along with a group of korean tourists.

Guys this show has a lot of word play so you need to find better subtitles, I remember I watched it on Viki and they had a lot of translator’s notes which helped explained the jokes and conversations sooo much better.

Granny (SAMSIN Grandma) It may be complicated to explain, but to put it simply i would say God of birth.

Im going to enjoy watching this with y'all ! We have to wait until next week 😪 I love the chemistry in between the men in the house , they didn't even realise that they revealed death reaper identity in front on the nephew 😂😂 he was so shook ! and The ghost ladies are hilarious to me 🤣!!

Habiba

i dont believe it's spoiling. You did good keep going 😘

Liv

If I had his traveling power I would be having dinner in a different country a couple of times a week 😅

I had forgotten how much I love this cast like I don't even need to know what they are saying I'm smiling just because they are on the screen, that's how much I enjoy them. New recommendations: Touch Your Heart and Bo-ra! Deborah

It's been a while since I watched this drama. Now that song is stuck in my head! I like the song though..😊 unlike the other drama y'all will be watching. 😂 And all the feelings of how sad her life has been, is coming back to me. I really like the actress though, even if I didn't like her as main lead. I'm also remembering how slow some parts can be.

The Goblin's superpower of being able to teleport, Hollywood made a movie with Hayden Christensen in 2008 called Jumper. It was decent. He was able to teleport anywhere anytime but he was being chased by a secret society that wanted him dead.

Jenna

Yumi's Cells is kinda okay but Little Women is a top tier show. It's just too good

Danis

tbh as a translator, I don't mind at all about adapting and altering to fit the target culture/language, especially for subtitles, because the lines should be immediately understandable to the viewer, as some translations just don't work if you value the "integrity" of the source language too much--literal translations often fail for cultural content. But these translators aren't adapting. They're just making things up lol.

I really enjoyed it, guess it was only enjoyed by certain people, probably depends on what sort of kdramas you enjoy.
