59:19 1:01 Descendants of the Sun. Kim Jiwon couple Fun fact. The reason why they are Descendants of the Sun was seen in the first episode of Mr. Sunshine. The writer said it herself. "Why the title of the drama is Descendants of the Sun." The reason they are 'Descendants of the Sun' is that they fought for their lives for their country in their previous lives. Descendants of the Sun, Mr. Sunshine, Goblin, The Glory- All of these are dramas written by Kim Eun-sook. This drama is why I subscribed to your Patreon. Thank you so much for reacting to Mr. Sunshine. It feels like I'm watching a drama with a friend. I feel so good.

I held out on watching this drama for so long cause I usually don't like historical dramas. I watched it like a month ago for Kim Taeri and definitely regretted not watching it sooner. Hope you guys will enjoy the show as well!!

Since Kim Eun-sook's "Descendants of the Sun" work is goblin, and since then, his work has been Mr. Sunshine, many actors who have appeared in Descendants of the Sun and goblin, such as Agus, the North Korean army, and Yoo Si-jin's boss who resembles a rockfish, appear.

The total production cost of 'Mr. Sunshine' is 40 billion Korean won. The photography of this drama is really at the highest level in Korean dramas. Many scenes are so beautiful that people want to take screenshots as screensavers. The screenwriter wrote this script for ten years.

This cameo is too special for me. When I first watched it, I shouted out loud. The Reunion of Descendants of the Sun. My two favorite actresses playing a mother daughter relationship in the drama really surprised and amused me. Kim Tae-ri is actually over two years older than Kim Ji-won.

Finally Eugene Choi 🙌🏻 The actor David Lee McInnis who plays David Argus in Descendants of the Sun and Kyle Moore here in Mr. Sunshine is half Korean btw since you called him a non-Korean actor 😅 I really like him

Some actors are playing real historical figures... for example, the guy who keeps selling Joseon. He is put down as one of the worst figure in Korean history. Also, its really important to understand The Righteous Army when watching this show. The Righteous Army, or "Uibyeong," was vital during the Joseon period, especially during the Imjin War when Japan invaded Korea. The identity of the Righteous Army members was often kept secret to protect them from persecution and to maintain the element of surprise against their enemies. Many were ordinary citizens... farmers, merchants, and scholars—who banded together in times of crisis, and their anonymity allowed them to operate flexibly and effectively in guerrilla warfare. Their efforts not only provided immediate military resistance but also instilled a sense of national identity and resilience, helping to prevent the complete collapse of the Joseon state during turbulent times.

Mr. Sunshine is Taeri's first kdrama and on top of that as main lead which I think is quite amazing for rookie actress. Another fun fact those 3 dramas Mr. Sunshine, Goblin & Descendants not only have same writer but also same director.

Finally!! I am so excited to see Mr. Sunshine with you for the next few weeks 😁😁

The historical relationship between Japan and Korea, particularly during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, is marked by significant conflict and colonial rule that has left deep scars. 1. Colonial Rule (1910-1945): Japan annexed Korea in 1910 and ruled it harshly until the end of World War II in 1945. During this time, Koreans experienced cultural suppression, forced labor, and exploitation, including the tragic issue of "comfort women"—women who were coerced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military. 2. Cultural Assimilation: The Japanese government attempted to assimilate Koreans by erasing their language, culture, and identity, leading to resentment that persists today. 3. Historical Narratives: The way these events are remembered and taught in both countries varies significantly. In Korea, there's a strong emphasis on the suffering endured during the colonial period, while in Japan, discussions about these issues can be more muted or controversial. 4. Ongoing Issues: Disputes over historical interpretation, reparations, and apologies continue to fuel tensions. Incidents such as visits by Japanese politicians to controversial war memorials or disagreements over territory (like the Dokdo/Takeshima islands) exacerbate feelings of animosity. This complex history contributes to ongoing resentment and a cautious relationship between the two nations. Many people on both sides hope for reconciliation, but historical wounds can be hard to heal.

Omg this drama is definition of masterpiece, the cinematographe is just insane

At the time of Shinmiyangyo, Yujin was 9 years old and was born in 1862. A character played by Kim Tae-ri was born in 1875, when the Unyoho incident took place

You guys actually do a great job of following and trying to understand everything so don't worry too much. 😉 This kdrama definitely has a loaded cast and it's awesome that you guys recognise more and more actors/actresses now. There are more faces you'll recognise! One you may have missed here was that the pottery guy was the grandfather in Queen of Tears. Anyhow, can't wait to continue (re)watching with you!

Drama based on historical facts. Korea's tragic history, but now it is glorious Korea. My country. The characters are called fictional, but they have existed historically. Joseon is the history of a chaotic and most unstable time.

kun st

rejoined for MR SUNSHINE! thank uuuuu

Do you know? The US Navy has the flag of "Uh Jaeyeon" who the Korean general in this battle between Korea and the US in 1872. You guys seem to have chosen a difficult drama. You'll be dizzy from all the new facts.😅
