That was a real kiss! 😘😘😂 That other cheap smooch from Judge from Hell, it's cuz female lead is married in real life so... Actors who are married, hardly ever get intimate on screen again. I see patterns of this all the time. They either quit the business after marriage, or will only allow for hugs or pecks of the lips. 🥱🥱🥱

tjfh catching strays 💔💔💔 they redeem themselves in the last episode i promise 😭

this ep solidified my stance as team junghwan! he’s just very considerate and selfless like he could’ve easily dismissed taek’s confession and just kept pursuing deoksun esp bc she’s giving him all the signs that she’s down but he put up a wall right away instead… i actually expected him to be jealous and territorial after last ep bc that’s what im used to in kdrama love triangles but this paints him in such a good light! i like taek too but he’s infantilized sm by everyone that it’s hard to take him seriously as a love interest :(

The scene where Sun-woo’s mom looks at Taek and instinctively feels that he will become her son was so well done. There are moments in life when you just know something is going to happen, and this scene captured that feeling perfectly. I also loved the shaman’s prophecy that she would “gain another son.” It was much more meaningful than the cliché of “meeting a good man and getting married.” When Taek stepped into Sun-woo’s house, the change in Sun-woo’s mom’s expression was incredible—her acting was truly top-notch. 🥹

Jung-bong’s umbrella scene is an homage to a scene from the classic Korean romance film " Temptation of Wolves " The male lead in the movie meets the female lead in a similar umbrella scene, which Reply 1988 referenced. In fact, you could say that nearly 90% of umbrella scenes in Korean dramas originate from this film!😚 The movie’s male lead, Kang Dong-won, is incredibly handsome and an excellent actor. He’s such a famous star in Korea that everyone knows him. So I was shocked when Jung-bong tried to copy him! ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 🤣 Cute Jung-bong! ㅋㅋㅋ You can find the famous umbrella scene that Jung-bong paid homage to on YouTube. Try searching for it! https://youtu.be/AJ74jdlq7WQ?si=Y4QQV8R0ihIQ2N3N

Team junghwan vs Team Taek

Kermen

It is actually from " The Classic" movie starring Son Ye-Jin and Zo In-Sung.

No, that’s not correct. I’m Korean, so I know exactly which movie this scene is referencing. The umbrella scene with Jung-bong in Reply 1988 is an homage to a scene from the movie “Temptation of Wolves (늑대의 유혹)”. You’ll understand if you check the link I’ve attached. The Korean movie “The Classic”, which you mentioned, is also very famous for its umbrella scene. In fact, the two most iconic classic films that popularized umbrella scenes in Korean romance dramas are “The Classic” and “Temptation of Wolves”. Please understand that some sentences might sound a bit unnatural, as I’m using a translator. Thank you for your understanding.

"Temptation of Wolves" came out in 2004 and the "Classic" was released in 2003 which makes it an origin of popular umbrella scene.

Jungbong’s umbrella scene is definitely a parody of the movie Temptation of Wolves. There’s even an interview article where Kang Dong-won, the lead actor of Temptation of Wolves, talks about seeing Jungbong parody his famous umbrella scene in Reply 1988. Most importantly, in the movie The Classic that you mentioned, the most famous scene does not actually involve an umbrella. The most iconic moment is when the male lead takes off his own jacket and uses it to shield the female lead from the rain as they run together. There’s a scene where he gives the umbrella to a shop owner and then runs through the rain with the female lead under his jacket — that’s the most well-known scene from The Classic. So, what does the fact that The Classic was released before Temptation of Wolves have to do with anything in this drama? In K-dramas, the most iconic and widely referenced umbrella scene is Kang Dong-won’s scene from Temptation of Wolves. The movie The Classic that you mentioned is, of course, often brought up as one of Korea’s most famous and beloved romance films. Even now, if you ask people to name the most iconic Korean romance movie, many will say The Classic. The rain scene and the background music from that film are also legendary. But in the case of this drama, the umbrella parody is clearly referencing Temptation of Wolves, not The Classic.

I wrote about release because I was sure that there was the same umbrella scene in "Classic" movie. Now that you clarified, indeed it is different one. Thank you for taking time explaining everything, I will probably rewatch these two movies!
