To me, this ending is tragic but very layered, teaching us that love, no matter how deep, can’t always conquer fate, time, or the harshness of reality. Hae Soo and Wang So’s love was transformative, yet they were doomed by circumstances and misunderstandings, showing us that some relationships are meant to change us rather than last forever. The most heartbreaking part to me is that after Wang So's struggles to be accepted and loved, he ends up alone, burdened with both the throne and the memory of the only woman who truly saw him for who he was. While him and Have Soo's love didn’t survive, it left an eternal mark on both of them. So it's bittersweet in a way, and that's what makes this kdrama so beautiful...definitely my all time favorite because there's so much to take from it

Paper Tiger

Don't apologize for being honest with your opinion. I actually love how honest both of you are and that's the reason why I'm here for! I hate watching reactors that somehow just "LOVE" everything single thing they watch.

There was actually like a deleted scene that happened as Haesoo was crying at the end of the scene where someone reached out and gave her a handkerchief to wipe her tears and she turned around and looked shocked which basically hinted that So did reincarnated as well but the director thought it didn't fit as they weren't sure if they were going to have a season 2.

Cheol-Woo Park

1:13 - Obviously it was to show him how foolish he has been, blinded by power dynamics in the palace and used the girl who liked him for who he was, not as a possible heir to the throne. It was in the tone of "See what you've done, you fool?" in the sense of a life lesson one realized too late (just like Wook), and not trying to exonerate him or make the viewers feel bad/sympathetic for him.

The original Chinese version took 35 episodes to develop the storyline, the Korean adaptation definitely felt rushed if they try to cram it into 20 episodes

While I also agree 2521's ending was executed well and people still bring it up fondly, this show was created 9 yrs ago and a ton of people still to this day want others to watch/react to it like you guys. That in of itself shows how powerful it is.

Your summation was really exceptional; the amount of detail you discussed was really thought provoking and well articulated. I agree with you all on a lot of points and also, overall, I enjoyed watching the show as I’ve never seen it before. It’s a good show but not great to me. So, I am glad that you covered it as it is beloved by many. I love your channel and look forward to your next selections.
