Addressing the Freezing Problems on videos (Patreon)

Hey everyone,

So for the last couple of weeks, there has been an issue with the videos where it freezes in some parts. It has been a little frustrating for us cause we want you all to have a good time watching and enjoying but it’s annoying when the videos stops for a couple of seconds and plays on multiple times. We have been going back and forth with Patreon support and they reached back out saying it is something that’s glitched on the Patreon backend and they have reached out to their engineering team to work it out. I’m not sure the timeframe on which this will be repaired and we are currently active trying to find some sort of band-aid to help sort this out Temporarily.

Now I’m not what originated this in the first place since I export videos with the same properties and upload things all the same but then videos start freezing. Patreon can handle high bitrates but it takes longer to process. I don’t think there was anything wrong with my encoder because I can play my videos locally without any problem. It just started happening when things got uploaded, because I believe patreon transcodes the video in their properties so it can withstand being on the site.

I’m not sure if this will work, if you can try and play the videos with lower quality like 720p or lower on mobile and maybe it can play without any interruptions since I export everything in 1080p? Not sure if that will work but let me know if it is a fix.

The other solution would be that we would have to use vimeo for the videos for now to see if they play without any interruptions. We might try it for the new series coming up.

I’m so sorry for the problems. It was super frustrating to me to see people aren’t having a great experience while watching due to technical glitches, and we want people to have fun watching series with us. I’m not sure why this happened. Hopefully things can get better swiftly.
