This is awesome! If you need suggestions on where it should go next, maybe they can search for a queen candidate, kind of like a hivemind where they need a queen/broodmother to make more worms. The queen can be a more refined/beautiful version with some more intelligence even after transformation, maybe more worm tendrils or have her transformation be more rigorous/slow starting from within her body Maybe all the aliens abducting a girl and making a cocoon for her or making her ingest a special worm that changes her from the inside out!
