I wonder why you have to hold up your phone in the beginning.

Mike Watkins

LaRae Moon

thisismaria27

I think the movie holds up but I always hate the parents watching this. Like how do you basically imprison both your kids and tell your daughter she is wrong for the way she is then go off on a fucking sailing trip without leaving them with any other guardian?! idk how the sisters turned out so alright after the terrible childhood they had.

Alicia Cue

oohhh you should watch the lion king again! and then watch lion king 1 1/5 it is soooo funny it was my favorite as a child 😂 there’s also a lion king 2 that’s really good

Sarah Rupert

I actually didn't like frozen when I was a child, I was 11 when it came out. I think I disliked it because it was so popular. And I was more into Barbie and how to Train your dragon at the time. And I was more a fan of Tangled. That is my favorite Disney Princess movie. And Big Hero six is my favorite Disney movie. But I think Frozen is okay, I enjoyed the second movie more. Also I think I have never seen the animated Lion King movie, or I saw it when I was between 0 and 3 years old. Because I don't remember it. But I hear all the time it is a great and iconic movie so it will be fun to watch.

Tionne

Glad you enjoyed it! Popular or not, this is a great movie. Elsa is my personal favorite disney princess because I love how complex of a character she is. There are so many great things about this movie if we put the hype that it got aside. I also love the relationship between Anna and Kristoff, and of course I adore Olaf. Elsa and Anna have a 3 year age gap so throughout the run of the movie Elsa is 21 and Anna is 18. And to answer your question about favorite song it is 100% Let It Go without question.

Rosey Perkins

Nah the lion king is everywhere so you don’t need to watch it to know what happens or you can read the Shakespeare play it’s based on I have it on my never watch list with Star Wars and several others

Kayla Locklear

Yes lion king is My favorite movie

Kayla Locklear

Fatim

Hm absolutely should watch ALL the lion king movies

LaRae Moon

yeah, last year in November the Disney CEO Bob Iger announced on GMA that Frozen 4 is in the works and the voice actor of Elsa, Idina Menzel also posted that Frozen 4 is in the works. There is also word going around that there could be a 5th movie but not sure if it's true as far as i've seen and done search on, is Frozen 3 "might" be a part one and Frozen 4 part two but not so sure yet

Sorry for the SUPER long comment! I think their parents were doing what they thought was best but they just made it worse. They sheltered Elsa so much and isolated her from EVERYONE, including her sister, which in turn isolated Anna from pretty much everyone. If Elsa had been taught from the start how to control her powers, this whole thing could have been avoided (but then again we wouldn't have a movie). No one can go through life without fear or struggles (except maybe psychopaths like Hans). Also, the trolls were like "Fear is gonna fuck everything up so learn to control it" and her parents heard "So make her afraid of her powers and never learn to actually use and control them". Also, I can relate to Elsa due to having an extreme anxiety disorder and depression. Interestingly, co-director Jennifer Lee said that it was intentional to show Elsa as having both. When we don't deal with our issues and face them head on, we won't be able to function normally. That doesn't mean our troubles go away, especially disorders that are a result of a chemical imbalance in the brain, but it's a lot easier to manage. And sometimes it's hard to face our fears but we can at least try. We as humans are designed to FEEL, not hide our feelings. Btw, I highly recommend the second one. A third one is set to be released on Nov 24th 2027. Also, it's cliche but my fave song is Let It Go Elsa is voiced by Broadway legend Idina Menzel, who is also known for playing Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway (and won a Tony Award in 2004), Maureen in Rent, Shelby Corcoran on Glee and Nancy in Enchanted (and its sequel). 8 year old Elsa is voiced by Eva Bella and 12 year old Elsa is voiced by Spencer Lacey Ganus. Anna is voiced by Kristen Bell, who, besides Forgetting Sarah Marshall, is also known for Veronica Mars, Gossip Girl, The Good Place, When In Rome, You Again and Bad Moms. She is married to actor Dax Shepard. 5 year old Anna is voiced by Livvy Stubenrauch with Katie Lopez (daughter of songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez) as her singing voice and Agatha Lee Monn (daughter of writer/co-director Jennifer Lee) as 9 year old Anna. Kristoff is voiced by Jonathan Groff, who is also known for Glee, Looking, Mindhunter and The Normal Heart, as well as Spring Awakening and Hamilton on Broadway (and the latter's movie adaption). In 2024, he won a Tony Award for his role in the musical revival of Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along (in which he starred with Daniel Radcliffe). 8 year old Kristoff is voiced by Tyree Brown. Olaf is voiced by Josh Gad, who is also known for playing Le Fou in the live-action Beauty and the Beast and Murder on the Orient Express. He was also in The Book of Mormon on Broadway which earned him a Tony nomination. Steve Carell was the first choice for the role of Olaf. Prince Hans is voiced by Santino Fontana, who has starred in several Broadway productions and won one Tony Award. He originally auditioned for Kristoff and was later called back for Hans. He also auditioned for the role of Eugene (Flynn Rider) for Tangled, which went to Zachary Levi. Grand Pabbie (the Troll King) is voiced by Ciarán Hinds, who is best known for There Will Be Blood, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Woman in Black and Belfast. He also played Dumbledore's brother Aberforth in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and has been in several theatre/West End productions. Duke of Wesselton (mispronounced as Weaseltown) is voiced by Alan Tudyk, who went on to play Duke Weaselton in Zootropolis, an actual weasel whose last name is mispronounced as Wesselton. He has also been in movies such as 28 Days, A Knight's Tale, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. Fun facts/behind the scenes: Frozen is inspired by/based on the fairytale The Snow Queen (Snedronningen) by Hans Christian Andersen, a Danish author who's previous adaptations are The Little Mermaid, The Emperor's New Groove, the Ugly Duckling plot element in Lilo & Stitch, The Little Matchgirl and The Steadfast Tin Soldier segment in Fantasia 2000. Another Disney movie, The Princess and the Frog did not do as well as they had hoped, apparently because words like "princess" alienate boys, which is the real reason why The Snow Queen was renamed Frozen. Elsa was the villain in the story and was originally supposed to be the villian in Frozen, but it changed because of the protagonist narrative of Let it Go. During early development when she was still meant to be the villain, her design was inspired by Bette Midler. Furthermore, Kristoff and Anna were children, called Kai and Greta. Eventually as the story changed they were aged up to adults and renamed. Kristoff is based on both Kai and the Robber Girl from the original tale, whereas Anna is based on Gerda and the Summer Witch, whom according to some adaptations of The Snow Queen, is the Queen's sister. Minor characters named Kai and Gerda do appear in the movie. Hans seems to be based on the cursed mirror from the tale. If a shard of the mirror punctures someone, they only see the bad in the world and essentially become cold-hearted. Because Hans was constantly overshadowed by his older brothers, he grew up to a cold-blooded and manipulative cynic. Furthermore, in the first two-thirds of the movie, Hans acts like a mirror by subtly mimicking whoever he's with so no one suspects his true intentions. When he sees his own reflection in the study's window, he finally reveals his real, wicked nature. Arendelle is inspired by Bergen, a city in Norway (though the name strongly resembles the name of another Norwegian city, Arendal). The landscape, clothes, music, buildings and names resemble Norwegian culture. The Arendelle castle is loosely based on Akershus Fortress in Oslo. The names Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Sven, Kristoff and Hans are Scandinavian (or Scandinavian-sounding) names. Furthermore, Hans, Kristoff, Anna and Sven are a reference to Hans Christian Andersen. If you say the names quickly right after each other IN THAT ORDER, it sounds simlar to his name. And, of course, trolls are a well-known characteristic of Scandinavian culture. The production crew went to Norway on a two-week-long trip before production began. This is the directorial debut of co-director Jennifer Lee. She became the first woman to direct an animated feature made and produced by Disney. In addition to that, she also became the first woman to solely write an entire screenplay for a Disney animated movie since Linda Woolverton for Beauty and the Beast in 1991. She served as the chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios from 2018 to 2024, before stepping down to return to full-time filmmaking. She is married to actor Alfred Molina (Jonathan Groff who voices Kristoff introduced them and officiated the wedding). Her relationship with her sister Brittney Lee, a visual development artist and WDAS-contracted art director, partially served as an inspiration for the relationship of Anna and Elsa. Once it was decided to make them sisters, Disney hosted a Sisters Summit in which all the female employees were invited to come and share their experiences in growing up with a sister. Jennifer voices the Queen, Anna and Elsa's mother. Husband and wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who wrote all the songs in the movie, wrote Let It Go within a single day. It originated with the story outline they were given, which called for "Elsa's Badass Song" at that point. The song went on to break many records, becoming the first song from a Disney animated musical to reach the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 since Colors of the Wind from Pocahontas peaked at #4 in 1995. It won for Best Original Song at The Oscars, where it was performed live by idina Menzel and where John Travolta, who was introducing her, famously mispronounced her name as "Adele Dazeem". In For the First Time in Forever, in the verse where Anna sings about meeting her potential true love originally contained the line "I hope that I don't vomit in his face". Disney deemed the line unacceptable as it contains a reference to bodily fluids and asked that it be changed. It was Katie Lopez, daughter of the songwriters, who came up with the replacement line "I wanna stuff some chocolate in my face". At an audition/table read for Idina Menzel, she and Kristen Bell broke into an acapella rendition of The Wind Beneath My Wings as the songs hadn't been completed at that stage. This solidified her casting in the role. Kristen Bell improvised the line "Wait, what?" that Anna says during her first meeting with Hans. In addition, according to Josh Gad, a handful of Olaf's dialogue was improvised. In an interview, Idina Menzel claimed her son boasted to his classmates that his mum sings the songs in Frozen and another child replied "So does everyone else's mum" 😂 Kristen Bell had to re-record a lot of her voicework for the movie. She was pregnant when she originally did it and her voice had deepened. She has also said her daughters don't like the movie. Much of the U.S. had a colder than average winter in 2013, prompting many jokes about the powers of Elsa and Disney's marketing department. The name Elsa for newborn girls went up dramatically after the release of the movie. Foreshadowing/symbolism: The two snowmen, Olaf and Marshmallow, represent Elsa's personalities when she made them: Olaf is friendly and affectionate ), while Marshmallow (the big one) is rough and fierce. Similarly, Elsa's ice castle changes color with her emotions. Blue is happy, red is fear and yellow is anger (which is interesting since blue is often accosiated with sadness, red with anger and yellow with joy). At the start of the movie, Elsa and Anna are wearing brightly colored clothes, symbolising their happiness. But as they grow apart over the course of the movie, their clothes become progressively darker (especially evident in the Do You Wanna Build a Snowman montage). At the end of the movie when the sisters are finally reunited, their clothes are once again bright. Also, in the first half hour, Anna only wears green. However, after she sets off on her journey to find Elsa, she wears an outfit similar to Elsa's coronation outfit, complete with the colors blue, black and purple. This is possibly done to show Anna's devotion to her sister, as well as her growing maturity. After she successfully brings Elsa home, Anna goes back to wearing green. And often in Disney animated movies, the good guys wear light colors and the bad guys wear dark colors. In order to throw off the audience, Hans wears light colors while Kristoff, Anna and Elsa wear dark colors. During For the First Time in Forever, Anna jumps in front a series of paintings. The last painting looks like a minor version of The Last Supper, with Anna taking the center position of Jesus Christ. This is possibly meant to foreshadow the betrayal that awaits her. Love is an Open Door is meant to serve as a double meaning for both Anna and Hans. When Anna sings it she thinks of love as a close relationship, using it as a way to escape her isolated life. When Hans sings it he is only using Anna's love for him to steal the throne. While singing "You and I were just meant to be" Hans sings "You..." while Anna finishes with "...and I" with both pronouns referring to her. This clever use of pronouns conveys that Anna is the only one who is really in love, with Hans pretending to reciprocate her feelings. During the song, Hans doesn't match Anna's movements in a few scenes, which foreshadow he's trying to keep up his act with her. For example, he is slightly behind when they balance on the bridge railing, when they dance like robots on the clock tower and when they dance around the lighthouse. Also, Anna is first to climb onto the roof and make the heart shape at the end. When Anna and Hans dance around the lighthouse and their shadows are shown on the sail by the rotating light, Hans' shadow is the only one that stays in the light, while Anna's shadow goes almost completely dark before he pulls her back in — Showing that Anna is being used as a pawn in Hans' scheme to take the throne. Hans briefly looks surprised following the line "We finish each other's... sandwiches!", prior to saying "Hey, that's what I was gonna say!", hinting that he's tailoring himself to match Anna's interests. In addition, he says that right after Anna leaves the shot. Also, as he says he's been searching his whole life to "find his own place" he gestures to Arendelle. After Elsa freezes Arendelle, Anna and Hans are walking through the town square and Anna shivers as Hans pulls his jacket closer, not offering her the jacket. When Anna is riding on Sven with Kristoff and she shivers, Kristoff gives her his hat (in contrast to the selfish and evil Hans). When Elsa freezes Anna's heart at the end of the reprise of For the First Time in Forever, the music contains a somber excerpt of Frozen Heart (the song at the beginning). In the fight scene, just before Hans runs to the Duke's henchman to divert the arrow from Elsa, he glances upwards. This makes the "perfect shot" that makes the chandelier fall and knock Elsa out more realistic and is a more concrete, yet subtle, alluding to him being a villain. Gloves are used as a tool to hide true emotions. Elsa wears her gloves to hide her powers and takes them off while singing Let It Go. Hans wears his gloves throughout the movie and takes them off only when he reveals his true intentions to Anna. During Let It Go, Elsa takes off her purple cape. Purple is the traditional color of royalty — This moment is her "letting go" of the responsibilities of being a Queen. Olaf's name is a clue to his character's purpose in providing comic relief: "Oh laugh" 😂 Thawing of Anna starts where the human heart is located. References/cameos: When the gates open during For The First Time in Forever, there is a cameo of Rapunzel and Eugene (Flynn Rider) from Tangled (which I absolutely recommend). Rapunzel has short, brown hair and is wearing a purple and pink dress (her celebration dress at the end of the movie), and Eugene is wearing a maroon vest and a brownish sash. They are entering the screen from the left. Timeline wise it doesn't really make sense since Tangled is set in the late 1700s and Frozen between 1840-1850. But there is even a fan theory that Elsa and Anna's parents were on their way to their wedding when they got shipwrecked and that Rapunzel is Elsa and Anna's cousin. Idina Menzel (Elsa) actually auditioned for the part of Rapunzel. Even though she didn't get it, she got the part of Elsa because of it. Kristen Bell (Anna) also auditioned for the part of Rapunzel. In addition to their cameo, when Anna dances through the room full of paintings, she stops in front of 'Jean-Honoré Fragonard's "The Swing", which inspired the visual style of Tangled. It appears that the statue head that Anna tosses in the cake during For The First Time In Forever is the same as that of Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid. There is even a fan theory that claims that Elsa and Anna's parents' ship is the one Ariel finds in search of things for her collection of human objects. Another theory is that they survived the shipwreck, had a baby boy and ended up in a jungle where they were killed by a leopard and their son was raised by gorillas. Directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, the latter whom also co-directed Tarzan, like this theory but have never confirmed it. But timeline wise it just doesn't make sense. Tarzan likely takes place in the late 1800s or in the very early 1900s. And if I remember correctly, it was debunked in Frozen 2. Of all the theories, The Little Mermaid one seems most plausible since it likely takes place in the mid 1800s. When the King pulls the book off the shelf to figure out where to find the trolls, the book is written in Nordic runes, originating from Scandinavia, where the crew drew much inspiration. These runes were the basis for the dwarf runes used in The Lord of the Rings. A map that falls out of the book resembles the map of the Lonely Mountain seen in The Hobbit. Anna is told by Elsa and Kristoff that it's ridiculous to get engaged to someone they just met that same day. Not only is this a common theme in Disney fairytales, this is similar to a plot point in Enchanted which also stars Idina Menzel. At the beginning of the movie, when Anna bursts out of her room stating it is coronation day, the pictures on the wall show a series of pictures that relate to other Disney movies, such as Tangled, Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella. During Olaf's song, his dance with 4 seagulls is a nod to Bert's dance with 4 penguins from Mary Poppins, another Disney movie. Anna and Hans singing in front of the clock in Love is An Open Door is a parody of Big Ben in Peter Pan. When Anna sings Do You Want to Build a Snowman? and is laying on the floor in front of the clock, there is a Mickey sitting on the top left hand corner of the book shelf. There is a plush Mickey on one of the shelves in Wandering Oaken's Trading Post and Sauna. The names Sven and Olaf are the same names as the characters from Titanic from whom Jack wins his tickets in a poker game.

One of the things I remember vividly from the Frozen era was when everyone started to theorize that, during the Troll's song - Fixer Upper - the line they sing 'get the fiance out of the way and the whole thing will be fixed' was them cursing Hans to not either fall out of love with Anna or force him to become a villain. Many people theorized this because Hans just seemed so in love with Anna when the movie began and everyone was so surprised by his sudden shift in gears near the end of the movie when Anna comes back to find him for True Love's Kiss to undo the damage that Elsa had done in the Ice Palace.

Also, you should really watch the shorts, too!! Frozen Fever and Olaf's Frozen Adventure! They're so fun to watch, absolutely amazing and fun additions to the lore of the Frozen universe!!

Kristen Patton

They also take place between Frozen and Frozen 2, so they're good little pieces to watch.

It is sad that Anna is looked over in the Disney fandom because she IS the main character of frozen. The actress who played her Kristen bell even struggled with this in her own home because her kids LOVE ease so much they sled her to dress as Elsa for Halloween lol. But Anna is frozen and Elsa has such little screen time but the public does still like Elsa more. I always loved Anna because she sweet, strong, quirky and just a little bit dorky and awkward so she’s relatable.
