Simply one of the best anime films I’ve ever watched (and I’ve seen a lot). I just knew Shawn would have to see this one.

SlimeFancypants

A perfect adaptation on one of my most favorite manga, hoping Shawn liked it!!

Death Note is THE example of a manga with a separate writer and artist.

Grave of the fireflies wrecked me. Eye bleach with Sandlot post Halloween

I am 100% down for rocco to try and vamp after watching grave of the fireflies

MrTheButt

Loved Rocco's reaction while Shawn requested there be no dieing kids. I think Shawn will be ok with Wolf Children, looking forward to the next movie club!

My professor in College made us watch Grave of the Fireflies for a WWII in the Pacific class, and I think that was the first movie that made me cry. Still haunts me emotionally to this day. Never saw Wolf Children so would vote for that.

You should totally check out Tokyo Godfathers, even if it's closer to Christmas time.

Carlos Padron

The new look back movie that was in theaters recently was really good I'd also suggest blue giant as a standalone anime movie too

Eyeshield 21 (another excellent sports manga) is also a notable example of a manga with a separate author and illustrator!

I’ve been a fan of slam dunk for years and of course I loved this movie - but I especially loved hearing your takes on it! I will admit I was a bit surprised with just how little focus Sakuragi (red head) got even though I know it’s Ryota’s story. I wonder if adding more of his context would have balanced out the basketball a bit more for Shawn and Rocco… also I love Shawn’s interpretation that Rukawa only just learned how to pass in this game (instead of him just being self-absorbed lol)

I wish you guys would watch a Makoto Shinkai movie like Your Name. I think these selections so far outside of Slam Dunk haven’t really been the right thing to get Shawn into the medium.

cornman

I wish the movie kept more of the goofiness and banter of shohoku

GFlash

Wasn't expecting anime month to finish without Miyazaki

James

Why don’t you guys just watch Your Name, since it was brought up?

Cody W

Anime sucks

buttysamosa

Sports do be spooky

James Morrone

Wolf children has a sad part in the beginning but the rest is fine, it's about things getting better

Nezumi

do Ghost for October

Belden Granada

not sure if it's mentioned already, but one punch man is written and illustrated by 2 different people

I'd love if Shawn checked out Haiyku. Was never really into volleyball, but watching it made me wish I had back when I was in high school.
