Dae-ho grew up w/ four elder sisters and spent most of his time playing games with them, leading to him being an expert in things considered ”girly” by societal standards. Sometime later, Dae-ho gets a Marine tattoo despite never being one. Dae-ho's father was abusive, as he mentions that his father disapproved of his interests that his four sisters instilled in him. Furthermore, when Dae-ho is suffering a trauma episode and fearfully hides in the dorms, Hyun-ju approaches him to retrieve the magazines he was sent for, but he reflexively flinches when Hyun-ju simply raises her hand, apparently anticipating her to hit him, which may imply childhood abuse he suffered from his father that still affects him decades later. That means his father would torture him more than we already thought. Why would anyone hate daeho?

Here again i disagree with Steph, she thinks too emotionally, 007 did the most logical thing in his position. It was that or offing himself and it's against our human nature.

The plan Gihun had was Gihuns plan from the beginning. Daeho wanted to join up with them, Daeho offered to get the magazines. That was on Daeho. No it wasn't completely Daehos fault, but everyone depended on him. Gihuns not the only one that did wrong. I will always stand by my statement. He projected his anger on Daeho and he had to kill someone to pass. So it made it easy to go for him.

I thought for sure she would die in childbirth. Tbh that would have been so dark and horrible, but powerful as a social commentary showing the dangers of regular life things like childbirth. I had hoped theyd let 120 then protect and raise her baby and im really sad it didnt go that way because 120 was my favorite character. I thought she would come back and theyd both be killed with the baby left alone, i thought the mom may die defending her and the baby, and that she still may have died anyway. I had this scene imagined that 007 would find her alone with the baby and his mom dead, i think he would have not hesitated to kill her then, bc his mom was his moral compass and he would have blamed her, and she would have been an easy kill after giving birth. I thought that 120 would come back to a horrible scene and have to deal with the guilt of it and protect the baby, or i thought shed come back and find that the mother had died in childbirth. 😭 i did not at all expect 120 to die this way, but i guess it was sickeningly fitting in a way, how even the hero can die unexpectedly and so meaninglessly and quickly, stabbed in the back like that, nothing is fair here., even in the end she wouldnt leave them behind, even to fight for herself and take sure safety when they told her directly she was held back by them and could go, she didnt want to leave them vulnerable. She was courageous and loving and learned from her mistakes in the begginning. it is so sad she wasnt the one to live through it, i really think that would have been amazing. I thought that cypto guy was going to find his ex love and kill her tbh. I didnt trust him and thought maybe he would want a chance to escape fatherhood or responsibility to her, i was afraid him telling her she could kill him was a manipulation and he would flip her knife on her or trick her. I also thought 007 would kill his mom, so he wouldnt be held accountable, held back, or have to feel as guilty after the game. I cant believe i was actually even more cynical than the show! I do think that one interesting aspect of the game that might start coming up is that as players do more and more horrible things to live, and fewer and fewer remain, in the end there may be a temptation to stay until there are no/less "witnesses" alive in the real world to know your shame and how you got the money. Especially for powerful people like 100. When there is one winner, there arent as many other people out in the world who know your trauma and what you did to survive and get that wealth, so not only do you not split the money as many ways if most or all are dead, but no one can blackmail you or guilt you back in the real world, and you can just pretend it never happened and compartmentalize easier. I bet some as it keeps going are going to realize that. They may start to feel that dying or risking death to eliminate witnesses or enemies is better than having the memory of this over your head, kept by someone else. They may want to keep playing to actually kill some people still in who they see as either too evil or too dangerous to be out in the real world with them, they may be afraid to be blackmailed or continuously reminded of the things that have happened there, or feel so guilty that they crash out in paranoia to kill people they feel know too much or look at them in a judgmental way. I can totally see crypto guy snapping like that. more than just money might make some people want to stay at this point, especially as they play games that are so directly murdurous. I dont think the mom fully thought through or meant to kill her son, maybe the mom just couldnt watch her son kill a young mother and reacted. She may not have even thought her actions all the way through because she probably had a trauma response or flashback, remembering being terrorized herself by her husband. Or those memories mixed with the choice she saw her son making in that moment, and knowing she couldnt defend it or watch it happen. It really is so sad, but i feel nothing for him. He never took accountability that wasnt pressured or mothered out of him, and actually stood for anything. He may have been weak and unable to kill the cowering man, but i believe it was also partly because he empathized specifically with that man and saw himself in him, he couldnt extend that to a weak woman. He knew the entire game he needed to kill and had other chances, and yet he left the pressure and guilt on his mom, he didnt do what he needed to do and knew he needed to do from the begginning when he had her switch. I know she wasnt strong but i actually do believe she would have killed. maybe she would have finished the kill of someone injured, or ended up killing in self defense, it would have been traumatizing and she would have had to hide and be careful, but she has the cunning and mental strength to probably have either found a way to do it as morally as she could or to have made the choice to accept death. it is understandable that he was afraid and understandable that he was desperate, but i truly believe only the most dead awful inside would kill a young mother holding a baby, in front of your own begging mother. it may be harsh and horrible, but i truly believe anyone with morals or goodness in them just wouldnt be able to, theyd rather die than live with the memory of having even seriously considered that, stranger or not. That got long! Love watching things with yall!

Low-key I think 007 had one of the saddest deaths in squid game

kookmineve

the actor who played 120 said he filmed both this death and the death of his character in queen of tears on the same day!
