I’ve been an anime in streaming services for like 10 years and never bought manga until this year….. it’s an expensive habit. I’ve probably blown maybe 500 dollars on it… and I’m poor so that’s a lot for me. But I have 2 shelves of manga and like 5 seasons of anime. Blu rays are the killer really. You can get a volume for manga for like 8-14 dollars but the blu ray seasons are like 50-60 bucks.

Wes is spot on with his analysis of older writers to younger writers and why stories recently have been seriously lacking in pretty much anything. Movie writers and directors in the 70’s had lived full lives seeing and experience some horrendous shit and had a trove of experience to draw from to write stories that connect with people. Now Hollywood writers haven’t left la or San Fran, never been to war, never been in love or had kids or been in any situation worse than a flat tire on their car and it shows.
