If you're still wondering how she survived, if you look at the hairpin again you can see it has a bullet impact mark. She was literally saved by the hairpin.

A little late, but just wanted to point out that Jinshi wasn't avoiding the prince title and hiding in the rear palace to prevent assassination attempts. He did that because while growing up, he would alwasys hear rumors that the former emperor wasn't his real father (everyone know his tastes). This, combined with the fact that he doesn't really look like his "brother" the emperor, led Jinshi to believe he was illigitamate and didn't deserve the prince title. So he pretened to be a eunuch and managed the rear palace. His mission that he has mentioned before could have been to discover his true parentage. This is why Jinshi was so shocked when Shenlu said he looked and sounded just like the former emperor when he was young. That was confirmation that Jinshi was indeed legitamate, which made him question everything he had believed about his parentage. That's also part of the reason he finally stepped up and accepted who he really was as a prince.

It’s a CN-Drama with lots of imperial court and inner palace intrigue, mystery, and a beautiful story full of plot twists and suspense.I think you might really like it!
