116 is a stand-out. Production-wise (animation, direction, voice-acting), writing-wise (long-awaited confrontation, poignant moral dilemma, complete reversal from their first meeting).

Ugh! This episode always hurts 😫 it feels like watching a friend become someone you don't recognize. Also second to last example for my Gon = psychopath theory and what I was alluding to before that if it's someone Gon doesn't care about, he is capable of sacrificing others. Even though he didn't because of Killua, you know he would have if Killua didn't stop him. Which is fantastic writing and sealed my love for this show that they took a character who you'd think is the pinnacle of good, and make them so dark when they are clouded by grief. He was willing to let bad people go in the past because he liked them, and now when he really needs to let one go for a few hours, he can't do it. Ach, so good! This arc is my top favorite and the reason I love trying to understand Gon's very strange characterization (for anime. Not so strange in rl) 🥰 Oh and my last point I couldn't say before now, I feel like I like the king because he and Gon are 2 sides of the same coin
