I've heard that in Japanese culture it's fine to tell your friends if they gained some weight (my source is Abroad in Japan, a British guy living in Japan and he told in one of his videos that his Japanese friends would pinch his stomach and say that he has to lose some weight lol) which is really different from how it is largely a taboo in western countries

"Why does it feel so good if its bad for you" Please keep Wes away from Meth and Heroin. Thanks :D

You guys are young and have grown up in a culture which taught you to think that being overweight was OK and healthy. It isn't, and they still know that in Japan. It's as simple as that. There's nothing unhealthy about losing a bit of extra weight. We're not talking about skin-and-bones models starving themselves here.

The kotatsu is actually a symptom of a problem with Japanese architecture, which is that they don't construct buildings to last. When you buy properly, you build a new house. When someone else buys that property later on, they build a new house. With such frequent construction, corners are cut, and one of those corners is proper insulation. These homes are cold in the winter as a result, which makes a heated table useful. In a properly insulated house with normal heat, it wouldn't be necessary.

"Fat culture" is way different in Asian countries, it's normal to point out weight gain/loss

Quinn

Sure, but "normal" is a strong word U might give someone the wrong idea lol
