Cossack is an ethnicity of people famed for being brilliant and terrifying soldiers in the Russian empire and the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth

“Why would she want to do that ?” Cause the Russians are fucking crazy, they say that themselves Steph. 😂

I think the line John says on the morning gives away why neither Tom nor John did anything to protect Arthur from temptation: “Arthur tells Linda everything,” I’m suspicious enough to think Tommy and John were genuinely callous enough to put Arthur through a situation like that so they could finally get one over him, make him do something he couldn’t tell Linda about, because they were upset by all of her interference.

You blame Arthur and John but I'm pretty sure the context was that Tommy forced them. When he said "Let them have their fun. Play nice" he was saying "today, you do whatever they want you to do" that's why Arthur was saying "fuck you both" the next day. He didn't wanna do any of that. That's what I think and how I read that whole situation, which as you said, feels very rapey. It's like the coercive situation with Pol. They feel they have to obey in order to do the last mission and get out because Tommy keeps feeding them that. Plus they saw what happened to Tommy, so now they probably feel even more pressure. I think Arthur would've walked away from that if he felt he could, and it seemed to me that John wasn't too pleased either the next day, but he's harder for me to read

Agreed on the debauchery point, though honestly this season doesn't actually take it that much further - I think it's how much they linger on it and let you stew in the discomfort. In season 1 our first introduction to Arthur is him getting arrested while getting a bj in the theatre from 2 girls - public debauchery; in season two in the London club we see people getting it on right there, and drugs are thrown into the mix - public debauchery again. If anything the Russians are more secretive, doing it in their mansion with only selected and pre-screened attendees, which I think that layer of intentional organization is what makes it feel so icky - it's not just spur of the moment, 'I have an urge and I'll act on it because I'm above consequences', it's a fully ingrained part of their class culture

You can’t look at it at the stand point of a modern married couple, in the 20’s it was normal for both partners to cheat, not saying I agree with it but that’s just how it was especially in the 20’s

Allison

That was not normal lol, where are you getting your information from?
