I learned something from Steph there at the start, I own the novels but still haven’t gotten around to reading them - but I wouldn’t have been able to pick up on that being literal. 😂 Makes sense though. 👍🏻

So...there was an after credit. A very brief one that starts at 23:21 of the episode. But it was blended in with the ending credits. Part 2 of 86 does not have as many after credits as Part 1 but when it does, it tends to blend in with the ending credits. I would not trust Crunchy's "Skip Credits" button to catch these such as this case here. As to Steph's comments at the beginning regarding the literal "dream" sequence of Rei carrying Shin, I would recommend rewatching. The imagery and the dialogue very much clue the viewer into what was happening. Wes mentioned that as he thinks back it does make more sense but I think it would be cool to go back for a second look to appreciate the symbolism. I had written this long comment for episode 12 only to lose it due to Patreon's rather lack luster commenting system. And by then I saw other viewers breakdown what had happen between Rei and Shin. One thing from that lost comment I will say here, is there was an rather minor clue in episode 11 that points to Shin not being dead even with that "headless" scene. When you go back to episodes with Shin thinking of Rei before their final clash, Rei's face was always obscured by swirling red scribbles. Depicting Shin's rather hazy memories of Rei during those good times. And then when we see Shin's "headless" body during the last shot of episode 11, those same swirling red scribbles is what depicts the loss of Shin's head. Rather than say something more graphic that we've known this show capable of not shying away from. So one could take that as Shin's final thoughts of how he'll end up as he faded into unconsciousness....or at least that's how I saw the stylistic choice of those red scribbles on Shin's body. After a rewatch of course lol

For a long lived military figure, Genghis Khan lived to 65, he also had 100s of concubines and over 1000 children. In one of the earlier episodes they went over Shin's power really well. The episode where Annette talked about her father and the 86 children.

There’s a common theme of money/capitalism in this episode. Billowing smoke clouds, advertising to children, ads that emphasize exclusivity and giving in to your loved ones, the older brother who couldn’t get an education due to the lack of money, pestering merchants. This country def isn’t perfect

If the Giad empire created the Legion, who knows what kind of technology they had? It might've been possible for Frederica to have ordered the attack of the Legion by having her consciousness uploaded into some kind of technology that gave her knowledge? She seems way too knowledgeable and mature for her age, after all, but that could also just be because she's already experienced a lot despite her young age, forcing her to grow up faster. But the Legion can clearly have consciousnesses uploaded into them and share people's memories as information like a hive mind, so they clearly had the technology. However, I personally think she just said that she ordered it because she feels guilty and wants people to hate her for it, not to make herself feel better, but to make everyone else feel better, and in order to one day make up for that sin through her actions. Give people someone to blame for why so many people had to die, as well as someone to forgive when that very same person takes responsibility and makes up for their sin, thus giving the hurt people a form of closure?

What you described is the best that could be in a country during a war for survival. They have competent authorities, a functioning economy, and strong institutions. For me, this is a realistically ideal country.
