Red Dit

I think it makes sense why Jessie believes Tommy given everything she has researched about him and even the stories he told her; being a communist in his youth because of Greta, throwing his war medals away when he got back, the whole mess with the government and the Russians (assuming she knows about that, which could be interpreted as 'choosing' the soviets given how he leaked everything to them), and the class difference meaning he can't really break out of his station (that's a bigger thing in the UK than it is in the US, and while most people don't really care nowadays back then it was still huge) Even the story he told about buying the hat and coconut because he wanted to be different and his family deserved it, to us we know that's his personality making him want to pull himself up by his bootstraps, but she likely interprets that as him wanting everyone to be equal/have equal means (not getting into arguments against communism or why that wouldn't work, her political affiliation biases the way she'd interpret a story like that) All in all, while Tommy is obviously using her as a means to an end and she naively hopes he will join the cause, I don't feel too bad for her given the situation she has put herself in - when you are plotting armed rebellion and have governmental-level plans, you are working on levels far beyond personal considerations, and if you can't separate those boundaries, that's on you

I actually do ship it. How can you not ship it? It's classic enemies to lovers! To be fair, she folded so quickly when he really started trying, which is a little dumb in her position. But maybe she actually will get through to him eventually? I think they both could be really good for each other if they actually allowed it. Tommy and Grace came across as a little obsessed/infatuated, but Jessie actually has strong ideals of her own which might make them a more even match and eventually real partners. Having said that, I think my toxic trait is thinking Tommy can be redeemed.
