Well, I sure guessed wrong with Destiny Bond...and everything else I was expecting. Once I saw panel 1, I wondered if the "half damage" effect would still hit Mandy so hard that she'd get opened for a follow-up. Or maybe it only protects her body while Vanessa was going after her Mega Stone (which is conveniently out of frame in the other panels, making me still wonder if it's a delayed-impact kind of thing)...but if Mandy has a lot of combat training and experience, which I now have no doubt she has (Alex mentioned during the counter-blackmail scene that she knew what a Tera Orb was because they both went to "the academy," whatever they taught there), she would know to protect it, especially if it's probably why she's still keeping up with Vanessa in the first place. So if Vanessa pulls out a sword, which may or may not be Psycho Cut or Psyblade or something she made up on the fly, would this be Psychic (i.e. a strong telekinetic attack) if Mandy's powers comparatively follow the rules? Anyway, a very cool reversal and another great emphasis of how much of a monster Mandy is, both in her heart and in her actions. If ever there's a time for Vanessa to go beyond maxing out and break through this or for Alex to somehow come to her aid even if he takes another hit, which I can only imagine would set Vanessa off even more (I have a feeling another forehead gem crack is coming), now's it. (Or for Grandma to show up, may she please also end this all right.)

I have an theory. What if rookie manages to get back up and use the crystallization on himself to turn himself into a dark type and beat the living hell out of Mandy? (Or at least do enough damage to get Vanny free, so they can both overwhelm Mandy) This fight is getting so climactic

I'm really, really glad that she didn't use Ally Switch at the last moment like some people were speculating. Because that... that would have been heartbreaking to see. We haven't seen Alex in a while, though... hoping he can find a way to at least distract Mandy to maybe allow Vanessa to break free.
