When we got a WIP for this page, with just the two panels with Vanessa there were two things I thought back to back. _Thought 1: Alex the Partner_ This is one other thing I've been waiting for. He doesn't know what Vanessa just learned, but for all Mandy did to him before Vanessa knew she was the threat, he completely gets a say in whether Mandy deserves to be spared or finished. With the look of shock followed by the look of burnout on Vanessa's face, I assumed he didn't agree with her choice. ย In fact, I assumed he told her that if she wouldn't finish Mandy, he would. Or maybe didn't phrase that as an offer or request, but a demand that she stand aside. And for better or worse, in addition to how it must feel for her to hear him say that, she would understand why he would feel that way because she was just now going to do that herself, and she also knows that he doesn't know why she changed her mind. And I've said many times before that of all the people in the world, Alex has the least reason to want to stay Vanessa's hand. He's a great guy with a huge heart, he's as lovable of a character as Vanessa, and it's no wonder they love each other so much. But he wouldn't have to explain why he'd want Mandy gone. Rarely have I been so glad to be wrong. Even without knowing what she knows (yet), he supports her and makes sure she knows she did the right thing, being true to her morals while keeping him and herself safe. And however justified she may have been in taking Mandy's life, she weighed everything in the balance and said "no" even if, unknown to him, she went through an extreme situation to change her mind so much. Have I mentioned how much I don't just love these two together, I love *how* they love each other so much? Because I do. This is why they (not just Vanessa, but Alex) are Partners. ...Still have not ruled out that he gives Mandy a long-overdue Falcon Punch. Which brings me to... _Thought 2: The cops are arriving, but Mandy's still there_ I assume those are sirens in the first panel, but the other thing I thought from the WIP was, "Take your attention off Mandy at your own risk." Taking their focus off someone as volatile as Mandy is for even *one second*, let alone multiple seconds? Especially when this "there for your loved one no matter what" thing is going on right in front of Mandy when she was just remembering she kept losing her loved ones while everyone else keeps getting gets to keep theirs (which she's already shown more than once that it really, really gets to her), and she may not actually *want* to die but is *ready* to die, aka the fear of death is there but isn't holding her back? Whether she's more inclined to provoke them into finishing her or work up that courage to Shadow Ball herself and get it over with, taking their focus off her now if they want her alive... Well, I hope this is done for Mandy and she makes the first right choice she has in probably a long time. But I also hope at least Alex has a plan in case she doesn't. Now go make kissy-face and get married and have like five kids in four years and get your hard-won happy ending, gosh darn it!

soooo not that i dont believe this will happens, but what are odds that after that, like either Mandy tries last ditch effort to attack and fatally wounds one of them Or after what Vanessa said, instead of jail time, she took this as an advantage and teleports away with no way of tracking her till the next time we see her when she gets her own atonement comic
