Here's the full length reaction to Ace Ventura: Pet Detective! As soon as I found out that Dumb and Dumber, The Mask, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective all came out in the same year (WHAT!!!), I felt like I needed to watch this one to complete the Jim Carrey 1994 trifecta! It truly blows my mind that all three of those movies came out in the same year. Enjoy!

Let's give Addie a round of applause for officially completing the Jim Carrey 1994 Trifecta with Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994). 👏👏🎉🎉 Happy Friday. I now plan to watch the whole trifecta whenever I can.

And speaking of Jim Carrey Trifectas, I also suggest his two other Tom Shadyac directed movies, Liar Liar (1997) & Bruce Almighty (2003), both from Universal Pictures. That'll complete your Jim Carrey/Tom Shadyac Trifecta here. #MoreJimCarreyAndTomShadyacForAddieCounts

Happy Friday, Addie! 😊 This is such a fun movie. This one, personally, is my favorite of the two Ace Ventura movies. The second one is still a lot of fun. And this is one of my favorite Jim Carrey films. Two others of my very favorite Jim Carrey movies that I very highly recommend is the 1997 "Liar Liar", and the 1985 "Once Bitten"(which would be good for around the Halloween season). Definitely looking forward to watching this later this evening. Have a great day today & a great weekend! 😊

I used to love this movie as a kid, but I gotta say the homophobia and especially the transphobia sours it for me. I do like what Carrey had to say about the homophobic parts later on in an interview: “It would probably be much different today,” Carrey said. “That was an honest completely homophobic reaction from that character. It was basically making fun of homophobia. It’s ridiculous. I’ve got a plunger on my face because I kissed a dude. It’s ridiculous. In this day and age, it probably would not be done the same way, there’s a learning curve for all of us.” I guess the homophobic jokes would land differently in a society where homophobia is less rampant (or, at the time of release, less talked about), but there really isn't any excuse for the transphobic stuff. It's dehumanizing and disgusting.

Jim Carrey never fails to make your day better.

Not only is this the third 1994 Jim Carrey movie you've watched in recent time, it's also the second Sean Young movie you've seen recently. Not only is Einhorn, Finkle, but she is also Rachael - the replicant from Blade Runner.

Philip Davetas

I haven't seen THE MASK and DUMB AND DUMBER reactions, so I don't know how you'll react, but this, ME MYSELF & IRENE and TRUMAN SHOW are my favorites of his movies. THE CABLE GUY is no slouch either.

Eric M Brown

"He's looking at your ring now your thing" lol

Luis Fernandez

Definitely keep on with the Jim Carrey comedies, but also consider watching his more dramatic films. You'll be impressed by his range. I'd recommend Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), The Truman Show (1998), and The Majestic (2001).

Alex Tan

(to Addie) It's also the second movie that you've seen on your channel that Courteney Cox was in, after Scream (1996). Blade Runner (1982) was also your fourth Ridley Scott movie that you watched as well.

DM DC

If you would like to see a movie with Courteney Cox in a different type of role, I recommend "3000 miles to Graceland" (2001). Great movie. Kurt Russell, Kevin Costner, and Courteney Cox. It is a bit dark, but it's fun, funny, and has some great action!

Jasbro

I know its probably been recommended but Cable Guy is a must watch as well, and since you mentioned Jim's amazing skill at physical comedy i have to recommend checking out Chris Farley movies as well who is on par with Jim at all that stuff.

Doug

If you do watch more Jim Carrey, the ones I'd recommend are: - The Truman Show - Man on the Moon - Liar Liar - Bruce Almighty - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Personally Man on the Moon might be my favorite simply because he really clearly put a lot of effort into imitating Andy Kaufman for that film and Kaufman was such an unusual person in real life. But Truman Show is his highest rated film on Rotten Tomatoes, and I can't really argue too much about that, it's pretty great!

My Jim Carey favorite movie is the Majestic. Such a departure from his slapstick type of comedy to his really good dramatic acting ability

I saw this in the theater and when we left all our cheeks were in pain.

For me, I like part 2 better. Better jokes and faster pace. But I think "Liar Liar" might be my favorite from this era of Jim Carrey. He's at the top of his physical comedy game. And it holds up really well on rewatch.

A few more wacky comedies of Jim’s you should react to are Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty (co-starring Jennifer Aniston), and Yes Man. A couple of his more serious roles I recommend are The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which my favorite of his. Also, if you haven’t seen him as the Grinch then you should check out How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

I hope you plan on reacting to the sequel to Ace Ventura, which is When Nature Calls.
